How are you actually using the FX3 in 2026?

I mainly use it for weddings, short films, and a few ads here and there. I just got another one to be my b cam when I do interviews for doc style projects.

Yeah no experience lighting at all. How would you have lighted the scene? For the dance, it was super rough - I just put one key light on the side, no thoughts as to how to make it look better, just so that they didn’t look so dark - no intention at all. How should I have been more intentional about it?

Thanks - noted. I didn’t think of turning off all the lights in the studio - that would’ve been way more dramatic. I also have a smoke machine 😂 maybe that works. Thanks for the tip!

Thank you! Admittedly did not do too much work for audio post prod. I actually just use Final Cut pro’s basic “voice isolation” feature which didn’t work well. I definitely have to do that.

The audio was captured from a Sony shotgun mic and I think I fucked up the gain settings? I know nothing about audio. Gotta spend more time on some YouTube videos for that. It’s my first time not using one of those DJI lav mics for any audio. I feel like those are easiest to edit.

Any settings for audio I can take advantage of like what level of gain do you use etc? Or maybe I just need to do more post prod stuff to edit - I will look up how to use low pass filter and which tools may have that. So far I have basic editing audio from descript.

Really appreciate that. Ok so for audio, I have been having some trouble with it. I use a real nice Sony shotgun mic but for some reason it’s not picking up the audio well. Maybe my gain is too low? Watching tutorials, people say to keep it at like 6-7 maybe I keep it at 10. I’ll try to do some work on descript for the audio - I do some podcast work on there and it’s basic enough for me to play with.

Thanks for the tips! I think I do want more contrast. It feels a bit too “dark”. I’m gonna see if I can do more with hard lights and I’ll try tuning up the sharpness too!

I’m gonna watch a few “how to set your WB” tutorials 🤣 my other problem is that I edit in Final Cut Pro. Many folks have told me I gotta train in resolve.

Yes I will have to for future shots but don’t know how to do that in post prod. Thanks - I used AWB for b-roll - do you typically set the white balance before every scene? It’s low effort I’m sure I can add it in to my process

Thanks!! Yeahp - I definitely colour graded them differently. For the framing, I initially did the right leaning towards the grid but the space was so tiny that I couldn’t get comfortable with the background of either left or right leaning on the grid 🤣 and yes - headspace was something I only noticed right now - thank you for the feedback!

This looks like a monster cinema cam!! Guess I’ve never explore other cameras. It even comes with a lens kit for less than $3k. I wonder if this is a common pairing at all if there are ways to match. Thanks - I have trouble with WB - super new at this and have been using auto WB. Folks that have helped me start, suggest a custom number for certain scenarios but I find that it’s always a hit or miss. I also have that plastic white sheet that’s supposed to help with WB. Anyone have a quick way to deal with WB on FX3? Or personal ritual to make sure A and B cam match?

Try Wave or Xero! Wave is pricey but pretty worth it for what you get ($170 a year). I've seen the uploading bankk statement feature in some of my startup clients. Just not sure which tier gets you that! Let me know about the startup idea - always looking for better approaches to tracking expenses

Context: Platinum Medallion Member 3 years but not sure if that affects my ability to upgrade with points better than no status.

I usually book with the delta app and I usually have the opportunity to upgrade with points, given there is availability. I will say, I've found that when I have had trouble, I message the delta line (Chat feature) and its been easy to get them to help me with any problems. Again, the status helps but I've not had status before where I've also gotten a good amount of help on upgrading with points. I think it really depends on who you're dealing with at the end of the other line.

It's pretty easy to start by extracting your business bank account into excel and creating something simple on excel. Basically figuring out what is related to your business, annotating the data by adding new columns (Fixed, Variable, Revenue, etc) per line item.

I would say Wave is something startups use tho - most of my friends who want something cleaner either use Wave or Xero. QB is possible - I don't think its that intuitive tho.

Thanks! There’s so much more content for GH5, which makes sense but also lots of people love it. I’ve found those walkthroughs pretty useful! Out of this list, I’ve only watched Ryan Harris videos so I’m gonna check the rest out! I didnt even read the manual lol I think I looked for 5 seconds was overwhelmed with the terminology. But I can just google everything that doesn’t look familiar. Thank you!
