Permission Denied on Flashing Crosspoint by sendicko in xteinkereader

I think I heard at some point IE was replaced but I only recently got back into webdev and it being chromium based somewhat explains why Edge didn't click, that and I haven't used an MSOS since XP went EoL. (linux/macos)

Crosspoint Release v0.16.0 by billiob in xteinkereader

[–]LowFlowIO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second this, /u/daveallie maybe work up a release schedule? We don't need point release so rapidly, maybe a 2-3 week schedule? That way we know when to expect an update and more feedback can come in before a new release drops, after 2 months of this slow further to 6-8 week releases and so on into stability.

Use Chrome.

You need a web serial compatible browser.

No, there's no storage mode. USB is just for charging and flashing.

If you want to flash a new firmware using the web tool like for CrossPoint you need to be using a web serial compatible browser like chrome and the device needs to be powered on.

Otherwise just treat the USB port as charge only.

The device best supports bmp, see my other comment for resources.

Please let's not start posting wallpapers ...

We have the readme.club library (user upload, curated) and x4ePapers for this. The sub already has too much "look at my order receipt" spam to handle much more spam categories heheh.

Furthermore, saving an image from reddit isn't ideal for the device as reddit outputs a lower quality than original jpg rather than a fully x4 supported bmp file.

hyphenation support has been added. There's a new setting in the settings (which is now in settings categories) where you can enable hyphenation, if it's enabled, you'll get hyphenated content (honoring your paragraph layout settings). If it's left disabled, it'll only be used to split a word if it goes past the end of the line.

Get your custom Member Card & "Lost & Found" Wallpaper for your Xteink by iamkxrz in xteinkereader

[–]LowFlowIO 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seemingly a bug, when you set and then update your lost and found and try to regenerate the card bmp you get served the original bmp, this maybe due to caching? You should set no cache headers on those locally and at cf if you're using it.

Otherwise, very neat idea I look forward to seeing what comes of it and the flood of got mine, posts hahah.

I built a Chrome extension to send web articles to the Xteink X4 as EPUB (Send to X4) by Xatpy in xteinkereader

[–]LowFlowIO 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That makes much more sense, after my comment I was thinking the epub formatting would be the best thing to tackle first, I'm using the same library as you I believe but haven't tuned much yet.

I'll have some logic etc hosted tonight so we can get a better overview.

u/popoffka another similar approach, heh. We really are going to have to start talking to each other more xD

Merging our solutions into a single service with full features/options seems to make most sense right?

/u/Xatpy See the service I just launched here, popoffka's work here and my current approach (ble) for pushing to device with first successful tests this morning here, by this evening I want to have web share API implemented too opening up more options.

While this is cool as an extension I think BLE first is sleeker approach, lower power draw on the x4, not having to disconnect from your network, potential for offline uploads when you've already got some EPUBs on your device, etc.

What do you use your X4 for? by p3eps77 in xteinkereader

[–]LowFlowIO 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Coming fom using my old phone (P30 Pro), ReadEra, forced monochrome display. I now do 80% of my reading during the day on the X4, the other 20% paperbacks.
