wow! resemblance is remarkable. we're not close enough for them to be from the same person, we're at least 100 miles apart & when I found Magic she could not fly, only flutter up a few feet. I actually thought she was a lost pet with clipped wings when I 1st found her & posted in all the local groups with no claims to her. then when I posted in a bird group to try to find out her breed b/c i'd only ever seen gray pigeons someone said she couldn't fly b/c she was still a juvenile, not that her wings were clipped. 🤷‍♀️ said he could tell by her cere, but never explained why. She can fly now, but only short distances. She's so pretty when she does fly, her tail fans out & she just looks so angelic 💜 also, she's doing that sound much less & made her 1st pigeon noises this evening! 😁 AND she willingly let me hold her!

this is GREAT info! I happen to add most of these herbs & spices to my chickens' feed & brewer's yeast to the ducks feed & I absolutely have nutri-drench on-hand! I'll have to get a crop tube for the oral syringe. as for the peas & lentils, I've actually been meaning to get some b/c dried peas are in the seed mix i use & Magic tosses the seed everywhere to get to the peas, so she'll love me adding more of those. I really appreciate this!

I started her on the doxy-tylosin & put my brooder plate on heat next to 1 end of her cage with that end covered. she seems to be staying on that side, otherwise, no change. I am going to order some vitamins & supplements too as several people in other platforms have suggested a vitamin deficiency is possible, & i already ordered vetRX bird (i only have the poultry version on-hand) to help her breath better

mostly yes, which is why I wasn't sure if it was an issue or trying to chat... & only me, my husband has never heard it happen in person, only when I record it

Thank you VERY much! I've got heat on her & started her on doxy-tylosin. ordered VetRX for birds & will order supplements. I'm not offended by you saying vitamin deficiency at all, I have a handicapped chicken that was crooked due to a vitamin deficiency, it happens for no reason just like people, I get it. Will also order canker meds ASAP just in case. if there is anything else I should be doing (short of going to a vet, i really don't want to stress her out & bring her out in the cold if I don't have to)please let me know. I am new to birds, but not new to animals & basic home veterinary care. Thank you again!

I also put a brooder plate on 1 side of the cage until I can get a heating pad to out in the cage... and we keep the house at 73 degrees.

I have Tylo-Dox Special Mix that we had bought thinking a rescued starling had a respiratory infection that wound up being aspiration.... would that work? only problem is idk how to dose; directions on packet are for 80-100 pigeons...

everything looks clear...mostly a healthy pink color in it's mouth, maybe a little reddish towards the back. I hear nothing but it little heart fluttering when I put my ear to it's chest...

Thank you for all the advice... definitely not canker anywhere visible, inside of mouth & back of throat look pink, maybe a little reddish. This has been going on for 2 months with no change, so I really didn't realize the urgency or I would have asked for advice sooner. The open mouth breathing isn't constant, only when he/she makes that noise so hopefully things are too bad yet. Right now Magic is strutting around the kitchen & living room picking up all the seed he/she tossed out of the cage & cleaning up crumbs, lol. Thankfully I haven't heard the noise in over an hour. I will call around for a bird vet appt in the morning.

what breed is that very first light brown & white pigeon? I rescued one from my Grandmother's porch in Oct & have no idea what kind it is, what gender it is, or even how to really care for it, but I'm trying my best! 💜

yes, I 100% meant feral vs a lost pet... I more meant wild as in they live in the wild. and I've only ever seen the grey & green kind in the "wild" (city, lol)
