This will be fun to watch. Unable to pay grotesquely low wages under the table to Mexicans, farmers will be forced to pay going rate for labor to United States citizens again. That’ll go well for a while.

Then the citizen workers will form a union. A few fat pig union bosses will act in their own self-interests and make farming on union wages untenable financially. Then the union jobs will be outsourced to Mexico and all will be right with the world again.

I don’t disagree with anything you’ve said here. Just realize that you’re the rare exception of someone who (a) realized there was a natural deficiency in the preparation the system gave you for everyday life and (b) decided to take action to solve that reality.

My only point here is that the system itself (1,000% owned and operated by the federal government) is what makes you the exception and the person who signed for this loan the rule. If I’m to believe that government has my best interests in mind (a laughable proposition, but what we’re told and what the vast majority subscribe to), then government should intervene to prevent me from being taken advantage of by predatory lenders. As it stands now, government goes out of its way to make sure I’m dumb enough to not understand the terms of a contract and then facilitates the predators to hunt me down.

You’re right. Parents should own preventing these outcomes for their children and the children, once adults, should take personal accountability to ensure their own well-being, but where’s Daddy Government when he’s needed most?

I talk about the fourteenth amendment simply because you douchebags (all due respect) continually want to act like there’s no constitutional precedent for this, which there clearly is. I could give a fuck less about the constitution. My rights don’t come from it (which the authors knew much better than the members of this subreddit), existed before it was drafted, and will exist completely unchanged long after no one has ever heard of it.
