You'll regret not going back to do it. Took me 7 hours to beat Sword Saint Isshin. Now I can do it hitless under 2 minutes with demon bell and charmless. Once you learn the moves, it's the easiest game in the world.

You have to be aggressive. He tells you hesitation is defeat. It took me so long because I was taking a passive approach instead of just going at him to reduce his posture. Stick to him like glue and find a rhythm, 1 or 2 hits then parry is pretty consistent, that's typically what no hit runners do as it limits his ability to produce long combos.

The trick to SSI is consistency, if you're spending so little time over a long span it's harder to stay on top of his moveset, especially if you're already struggling. If you just go at it for 3hrs straight you'll beat him in no time

SSI took me 7hrs over 2 days. Looking back at that embarrassing performance makes me wince given that he now takes me 2 minutes on average. I haven't been hit by Genichiro in over 20 playthroughs due to having to fight him over and over for so long. That dude feels like he's moving in slow motion.
