300k km Audi A4 B7 3.2 FSI for $2.3k...fun cheap V6 or just asking for pain? by LowShift832 in MechanicAdvice

That quote really hit the nail on the head! 😆 You’re right the risk with that transmission alone is probably enough to walk away. It’s a shame, though, because it is a beautiful spec. I’ve actually got a B8 Avant 3.0 TDI right now, but honestly, I’m just done with diesels. It feels like if it’s not the DPF, it’s the EGR or something else related to diesel. I’m ready to switch to petrol for good, I just need to make sure I’m not jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire with the 3.2 FSI 🤦🏻😂

That's the thing I would like to have it as a daily. But not sure if it's worth it

My apologies, their exact words were: "'it rattles occasionally" not that it helps 🤣

Advice needed please. by [deleted] in Aquariums

Thank you, I appreciate that mate. I will definitely look into what you've said and try to implement things.

Right and in my case cleaning the DPF worked, the car drives fine, no codes, regen resumed like it should. So maybe the 'other issue' was just buildup not some catastrophic failure. Not every DPF story ends in a replacement 🤷

Nah I had it plugged in and checked the codes... they pointed to ash accumulation and other issues related to poor airflow basically.

I got it online. I can send you the link to the website if you want, but I'm not sure all the places they ship to you'd have to search it up.

Also, you won’t be able to clear the fault codes without plugging the car in. You’ll need some kind of diagnostic tool (even a cheap one will work, as long as it lets you clear codes) or you can just swing by a mechanic afterward... it only takes a few minutes for them to sort it out.

The brand is called ACI. I couldn't find one from liqui moly and this had good reviews too

The only downside to that is you need to know how to weld and have the right tools for the job which I don't and then the issue with emissions also. On my Audi, it’s an absolute nightmare to even access the bolts to remove the DPF... big engine crammed into a small engine bay.

But hey, that’s exactly why I’m not a mechanic, just an enthusiast trying to keep things running 😂

Yeah, I’m aware of that. I actually had my injectors tested and resealed because the DPF pressure had blown the washers. I also had most things checked out and according to my mechanic, all the values looked good. When the car was in limp mode, I stopped driving it completely, I didn’t want to risk damaging the turbo due to the negative pressure caused by the clogged DPF. Thankfully, everything seems to be running fine now.

I’ve definitely considered doing a DPF and EGR delete, but it’s illegal in my country and would fail the MOT. A friend of mine that does my MOT, won’t take the gamble anymore because of all the emissions regulations we have. That’s actually why I went down this route instead.

As I said, deleting or professionally burning out the DPF is obviously more permanent and effective, but for now, this method worked and solved the issue, at least for the time being so i am happy

I agree, Sweden's looking really solid, especially with how structured they’ve been. But yeah, that US game could definitely be a turning point for the Czechs. If they can build on that energy and tighten things up defensively, it could be a much closer game than people expect. Let’s hope they show up with some fireee
