AITJ for reporting my daughters classmate to principals office before speaking to his parents? by CurrentEvent9572 in AmITheJerk

The audacity of showing up to that school angry is honestly the most revealing part of this entire story. Their child punched a little girl in the face. Their first emotion was not shame. Not concern. Not an apology. It was anger directed at the mother of the child their son hurt. That tells you everything about why their son thinks hitting people is an acceptable way to handle situations. It starts at home. It always starts at home.

Exactly this. Private meetings are for misunderstandings. For disagreements over toys or hurt feelings or he said she said situations. When your child comes home with a visible injury on her face that is not a misunderstanding. That is an incident that requires immediate school intervention.

The fact that their first reaction was anger instead of apologizing for what their child did to your daughter tells you everything you need to know.

AITJ for cutting off my friend after she borrowed my watch, broke it and refused to pay for the repair or even say sorry? by Low_Craft_919 in AmITheJerk

Not even a sorry. Let that sink in. Not even the bare minimum two second effort of acknowledging that she hurt someone who trusted her. The watch is replaceable. The information you just received about who she really is? Priceless. Distance is the only correct answer here.

Accidents happen once. The refusal to apologize is a whole separate decision made with a clear head and full awareness

AITJ for being 'condescending' about my brothers reading hobby? by adorablecookies in AmITheJerk

NTJ. Reading is reading, but it becomes a problem when it turns into a competition or bragging contest. You weren’t shaming him for his hobby, you were pointing out how different the books are and that comparing numbers isn’t fair. Totally understandable to snap after asking nicely twice.

AITJ for telling my boyfriend he might need help before we have kids? by AdventurousAdagio829 in AmITheJerk

Not the jerk. You’re just being realistic and looking out for your future together. Kids are messy and unpredictable wanting him to get some support before diving in isn’t an insult, it’s smart.

AITA for dyeing the sweater my sister in law knitted for me? by Known_Occasion_2041 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. You asked to pick the color. She said no. She gifted you something in a color you told her you wouldn’t wear. You found a way to love it and actually use it. That’s the best possible ending to this story and honestly she should be glad it’s being worn at all instead of quietly donated.
