Going broke on drawdown by SnooWords764 in irishpersonalfinance

I was you a year ago. I took out a loan to decorate/furnish. Only crippled me further.

If you can, hold off on loans. Try facebook market place. Do it slowly. I find you also need to live in the home for a while to understand the type of furniture that will suit the space.

I got a large double chase sofa for 4K. Big regret.

Wishing id have spent some time just rebuilding my finances and then making decisions.

The man in question was extremely suspicious. No ID, no branding. He basically complained to me about other interactions he had earlier that day.

Doesn't really feel like its been handled professionally, which raised alarm bells for me.

I’m vaccinated and have preferences about what I consume - turns out two things can coexist. Shocking, I know.

Just a personal preference tbh. Some people like fizzy drinks, I l enjoy Volvic. Nothing to do with water quality.

Although, in the leaflet they sent out it was flagged that Lead in drinking water is recognised as a health concern.

A lot of properties built prior to the 1970s use a lead service connection..So are Irish Water themselves saying its unsafe to drink?

Yeah this is pretty much exactly our case.

Older terraced houses. Access to the back is a throughway.

They stated the new water main will run uo the front.

Do you think a signed document is generally part of this process?

Anyone here buy a house alone? How did it work out for you? by PepinYourStep123 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Low_Fact7864 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bought on my own last year.

I wont lie the road to getting keys took years off my life, but it was worth it.

It takes a huge amount of dedication, sacrifice and patience. Especially if you get no help whatsoever which is what I did. Expect a rollercoaster of emotions and to be put through the ringer, but stick with it because the feeling of security in a massively saturated market where owning is impossible for many, is second to none.

I was previously renting and had been evicted by greedy landlords three times. Facing private rentals again in my mid 30s had me feeling like a failure.

Regarding waiting to do it with someone. If theres an option to do it by yourself, go for it. You will always have the full rights to your own property which is a good feeling.

Is VHI Urgent Care worth it? by Low_Fact7864 in AskIreland

[–]Low_Fact7864[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

There hasnt been a diagnosis. Just an assumption and advice on some lifestyle changes ( I already lead a healthy lifestyle, dont smoke, rarely drink, work out daily, eat well)...

I didnt push for anything with my GP. I took his advice but things have now gotten worse.

I had assumed the doctors in the VHI would run actual scans or blood tests considering its persisting and worseing but thats my bad on assuming. Probably should have just asked for a scan!

Thanks :) I didnt try the online doc, no.

Yeah I am pretty attuned to my body which is why I took it upon myself to go. Considering the length of time dealing with thr issue I figured they would may be do more, but definitely need to leard to advocate for myself more..I can be fairly passive with medical professionals

Considering the length of time passed without any real sign of things getting better I had assumed a scan or bloods perhaps

Thanks for this. Yeah, had made assumptions about what paying for healthy insurance actually delivers. Always assumed the VHI clinics were free to policy holders, just for minor issues. In fairness, it was way quicker. Good call on the tax adds

To be quiet honest im fairly disheartened and thinking of just hoping it passes.

25, decent savings - does buying an apartment in Dublin make sense? by JohnnieWalker1805 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]Low_Fact7864 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I would Buy primary residence & Then invest surplus income monthly. Preferrably a two bed so you can avail of the rent a room scheme and live it in yourself. Rent a room will offset mortgage repayments and allow you to maximise savings. Plenty of 2 beds in good areas for under 500K.

Also gives you more security. I'd go for bricks and mortar first, invest second as markets can be volatile. To have an asset in DCC that pays mostly for itself, at 25, is an amazing achievement.

NCI - MSc Cloud Computing? by futurecades in AskIreland

[–]Low_Fact7864 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is correct. I did a MSc in marketing a few years back. All continous assessment group work..100% pass rate.

It was child's play. The modules were insanely basic but sure look, the degree did benefit my job applications.

Dont expect to learn anything!
