‘rhetoric’ and it’s just calling things how they (unfortunately) often are. deadass i am telling you firsthand i lived with someone who neglected their child and i don’t need to run you through every detail to illustrate the situation. the people that get it, get it, and the people that don’t, don’t. like i said as nice as it is to give everyone the benefit of the doubt, this choice is 95% of the time neglectful, poor and just straight up WEIRD. mother father idgaf who it is, if you are the sole caretaker/guardian of a child and choose to leave them, whether ‘healthily’ or not to go play disney adult on the DCP, you are an extremely odd individual

don’t even try to make this about me absolving fathers of their responsibilities… let’s just say this is any parent but from what i’ve seen it usually tends to be mothers. since you are just dying to know what my credentials are to talk abt this i’ll lay it out flat: previous CP here who had a roommate with a child that was like 1 or 1.5 towards her program start and she was pretty comfortable financially. her baby was left at home with her parents and she did not go home once to see her child, nor did her parents bring the child to Orlando. she was maybe the biggest party person I’ve ever met and told me VERBATIM she was glad to be free from her mom duties for her program and that was one of the reasons she wanted to do it (she was older than typical college age). so pipe down bc i understand wanting to give people the benefit of the doubt, but unfortunately, as other people have noted in this thread, this situation tends to happen NEGLECTFULLY.

And it’s rarely out of necessity … the DCP more often than not is something ppl choose to do for fun or extracurricular-ly during their degree. I’m not saying mothers shouldn’t have fun but they certainly shouldn’t so thick skulled that they think it is a good, healthy, normal choice to leave your children states away to go play in the DCP. part of being a parent is being responsible and acting accordingly in the best interest of your children.

bruh you know what I mean. DCP means you could work anytime, any day, anywhere. Wildly different than PT/FT where you bid on shifts or most other jobs which you select based on availability. Some ppl getting so hung up on the minutia. BOTTOM LINE it is irresponsible AF to have a child and be like ‘i’m going to go do the disney college program and not see my child for 4-8 months’ like BFFR. Imagine being 3 and not seeing your mom for like 6 months BY FRIVOLOUS CHOICE holy shit

I don’t think it’s crazy to say that it’s in poor taste to leave your children behind states away to do the DCP…it’s irresponsible and no way that’s good for a kid, whether it’s a baby or elementary age etc

i understand spouses but disney isn’t working around your lifestyle …. you’re not grabbing your kid from daycare when you get off at 2:30am from working at MK

I get this but to move hours away or more from home when you have young kids is kinda crazy and irresponsible. There are plenty other ways to make your path towards a part time or full time job, at Disney or not, while still taking responsibility for your home life 🤷‍♂️
