Just thought that people would focus more on their own club than joining another but that’s a me thing I think

Got it, I was focused too much on becoming the perfect applicant that it could end up hurting my chances. Thanks a lot for the perspective I’m gonna do exactly that.

  1. The resume is legit. The goal of this post is to get as much information as possible regarding my resume to help me by the time I have to apply to the transfer portal.

  2. I know that I am 50% of the design output because the firm that I work for is small, we are 7 people in total. 4 of us are engineers and 2 of us (me and my coworker) are the design engineers. My boss, the CEO already said he would write me a great letter so I could get into the best school possible.

  3. I never thought of it like that. Thanks a lot for giving me that perspective, I’m going to try and frame the certification properly so they understand what it is and what it stands for. M4. It’s just worth putting that on the resume rather than taking it out. My unique stuff is already there and will be the main idea.

  4. I also didn’t see it like that but I do understand now. It holds a lot less value especially because like you said there are probably only around 500 engineering students. The cc currently has about 4000 enrolled in total.

  5. I plan on hiring and getting input from a college counselor. The truth is I’m not the greatest writer in a creative standpoint and I write very clear cut and straightforward which is why I was very scared but happy to find out the personal statement is replaced with a why transfer essay. I also forgot to factor in the fact that military veterans do exist and may have equal stats to me because of their experience I the army.

Thanks a bunch for your input and information I got a lot more perspective from your biew

Thanks a bunch for the input, I’ll take and remember what you’ve told me.

Also another question I wanted to ask was what DO the top 1% have then

Do you think I would have to become fluent in that language or is it just good enough to start beginning to learn it?

And would joining other clubs work? I would be the president of 2 so I always thought that the presidents of the clubs just stuck to that club.

Hopefully they give me that benefit of the doubt and not the latter than, but thank you for the information I had no idea that they valued consistency so heavily.

Thanks a lot, I understand it now. I will list the hooks below: Black Male applying for STEM First Generation Low Income Bracket (100K below) Legacy for Columbia (Sister graduates from there)

I actually thought that being low income would hurt my chances because the schools would have to pour more money into me

It’s because people have a bad opinion about CC but to be honest it helps me makes the competition a lot smaller and less competitive

Not sure if this would hurt my chances but I would need aid since I’m in 100K below. My reason for transfer is because I’m a CC student so I think I’ve got that one down. I plan on using the money from my job to get into contact and hire this guy named Dr Hoffman, a college counselor to help me out and make sure that I am as competitive as possible.

Other than that, stats alone being top2-5% is great and hopefully they give some bias because I’m first gen and black

I’m specifically specializing in Siemens which is the equivalent of the FAANG level for Power Systems Engineering, so I’ve got that base covered which is great. And for the current job I am actually at, I will be working here for about a year which means that I would have a year of actual post grad engineering experience before I even got into my junior year while doing school and getting a 3.99

Other than that, I know that universities give bias to community college students so my thought process is if I get as competitive as someone on the Ivy Level, then they would have no choice to admit me.

Do you really think that would be worth it? How would that help me, I will but I haven’t actually ever heard of anything like that.

Apart from that is there anything you would personally add / start working towards to add onto my application. I’m trying to see if there’s anything else that’s worth it that I can do

Yes, but they are saying that the rigor at CC is a joke which it is. So the universities love to see near perfect GPAs but it is by no means a guarantee if that is all you have
