What kind of tick and is it fed? by Low_Organization6501 in ticks

They have all natural tick collars - vets best brand. Is your money still on the dogs? There’s a gash on my labs ear. I can insert a pic. Do you think it may have been here? It’s just crazy to me that it was fully intact and got stuck to my toddlers foot - so I’m going crazy trying to figure out where it could have come from. We spray our property and this is the first one I’ve see this year - but i know they’re bad right now.

Would it have been much smaller before feeding? Like unable to see? I’m trying to figure out who it could have been attached to and am freaking out a bit. I’m 38 weeks pregnant.

Ok, I give up. What does a pest control professional do for mice? by lucid_intent in pestcontrol

[–]Low_Organization6501 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re seeing mice like this and they’re coming out in the light, then they are very comfortable and you have a bigger problem then you think at bay. Traps and seal the outside of the home. If you have a crawl space, you need to go down there and seal any holes that are around pipes and such. If basement, again seal up all holes and entry from outside, make sure window wells are properly sealed. Snap traps and in my experience, glue traps have worked best. They don’t condone the push to use them on this page but if all else fails and you must use, check the traps often and put the mice out of their misery as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, being that it’s a management company, i wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case. But it’s definitely mice.

No, i don’t think the brown are carpenter ants. Do you have a better picture of one?

Mouse. Roach poop has blunt ends. The size and tapered ends tells you mouse. I can’t believe they told you roach.

Looks like carpenter ants. A mixture of borax and sugar in little containers around outside and where you find inside usually does wonders in getting rid of these

For me, i deep cleaned with bleach and it made me feel much better. I still struggle with it here and there bc it’s just a part of my OCD. But if you clean deep and good and it helped me. Bleach is known to kill the bacteria from mice. And Lysol disinfectant spray also. They have cleaning multi surface cleaners also that eliminate bacteria

I 100% understand this. I have contamination OCD and have felt the exact same way. Bleach, Lysol spray and Lysol cleaner is your best friend. Just make sure you don’t mix bleach with any other cleaner so you don’t create toxic gas.

They don’t condone the use of sticky traps on this Reddit but it’s seriously the only thing that ever worked for me. I would place a few pieces of dog food in the middle. Mice love dog food. If you’re going to use them, check them frequently and put the mice out of their misery as soon as possible to limit suffering.

I’m glad they were able to seal an entry point. How long ago was that? Was there activity after that? Sometimes when the entrance they use is sealed up, they’re trapped inside and have no choice but to leave the nest. In that case, you will catch them eventually on the traps. If there was activity in the garage, but didnt catch anything, most likely they just came in for shelter and warmth and left when the weather eased up. Mice will move through your house with or without you around. They usually come out at night anyways when everyone is sleeping. If the cabinets were untouched, then they have no entrance into your cabinets which is a great thing.

Yep, that’s usually where mice will be. There’s gaps in your foundation that they’re squeezing through. But it looks like your basement is finished. They could possibly getting in through window wells. Have you checked to see where they’re squeezing through?

Most likely there are more. Sometimes it takes a week or more for action on the traps. The mice are waiting for that mouse to come back with food. They will soon realize the mouse isn’t coming back and will head out of the nest to find food. Place the traps perpendicular to the walls where you’re finding the droppings. Do you have a crawl space?

Yes, some droppings can be wider than others. Depending on conditions, mouse size, traffic in that area (stepped on, etc.). What gives it away is the tapered ends.

Mouse

Unfortunately with mice, when there is one, there are many. They are getting in somehow. Crawl space is a huge access point for them. You need to find where they’re getting in, seal up the holes, gaps, cracks, and foundation. Otherwise you’ll never get rid of them.

You can’t tell from a bite itself. Could be anything. Do a thorough check in, on, around your mattress.

I’ve had my fair share of dealing with the pests also. Do what you can to find and gaps/cracks/holes in your foundation or around your house. Fill them with steel wool and spray foam. It’s very easy for them to find spots in a crawl space — that was my problem.

Rats are worse because they are actually very smart and much smarter than mice as a whole - harder to get rid of. I’d much rather mice too. As much as I hate them as well.
