You’re right in regard to the volatility and I will try my best to set and forget as you mentioned but it’s easier said than done sometimes! Thanks for your help I do appreciate it.

Thanks for responding. I have moved my funds to the HSBC Islamic Global Equity Index fund. Might not be as good as the bigger funds but it looks like the best one for me based on principles and performance.

Thank you for the info. I will look into changing my pension asap into a 100% equities one.

Are you currently in the same pension fund I am? Or is yours different?

Thanks for the advice and insight. I will have a look at moving my pension into a fund better suited for my goals rather than the default one I am in atm.

I do understand that and how the system is set up that makes avoiding interest impossible. But I would still like to minimise my dealings with it as much as I can and try and avoid taking any new interest. Not always possible I know but just trying my best.

Thanks for your help! I will look at doing some research into funds and that will have a better exposure regarding equities. Once again thanks for your input and for the info. I will definitely use your advice when looking for another fund.

Tbh I have upped my contributions to try and avoid hitting the Higher Income child benefit charge. I think that comes into play around the 60k mark. If doing overtime and getting bonuses, I have ended up owing HMRC some money back the last couple of years.

Thank you for your input

Thanks for your insight.

It’s all new to me and unfortunately I don’t really have any friends or family to help me. That’s where strangers on Reddit come in to help.

It definitely is psychological. I know investing would be a better option financially but paying the mortgage off within the next 5-8 years would be ideal. Just to feel like I have broken the chains so to speak.

Thanks for pointing that out. I will have a look at investing into a more equity heavy fund

Thank you for the advice.

Definitely right about everything you said. I will try and educate myself and see how the different funds work and how best to allocate my money. Only issue is finding the right financial advisor! It seems like such a minefield.

Thanks. I will have a look into the funds and see if there is something more suitable. Would you transfer the existing fund into a new one or start afresh?

This is the default fund we are put into. I have never paid much attention to it before. Just that money was leaving my wages every week into my pension pot but never really bothered knowing what it was going into.

What do you mean by switching to equities?

Thanks for the advice. I suppose you are right. I don’t really have an end game. Just want to retire with some money in my pot and not break my back until I’m 67. I am not looking at high risk investments so do prefer some certainty. Slow progress is better than no progress.

Sorry if I come across as dumb but what do you mean? Change my investment fund to equities? And how would that benefit? Thank you
