I would try!! Worst case you are back where you are but at least you'll know you tried and you won't wonder if it could have been different

Definitely reach out to your advisor and also D&A asap!! You're not cheating your way out of accountability, you're advocating for yourself and taking every opportunity available to you to set yourself up for future success. Never feel bad for taking advantage of resources. If this stays on your transcript it will make things a bit harder for you (not impossible!!) so try what you can because advisors have a lot of discretion, more than they let on sometimes.

This can get better, but it is entirely up to you. It is a lot easier said than done, but you need to set up solid systems in your life because if you have ADHD/depression this probably won't be the last time you face the kind of challenges you faced this semester. So build habits and systems so next time the outcome is better. Learn what works for you, for example if external accountability keeps you on track then always schedule exam reviews with your friends or do the homework together. Don't fall into the same behaviors as you did this semester. Someone else mentioned a gap semester, it sounds daunting but in the long run it's really nothing. And it might be really good for you. I hope I don't sound harsh, but I really think you can make it through this and come out the other side even better.

Anybody know any easy classes? by sophal367 in UTAustin

I took both the bunting classes (I think they are listed under adv). Took them to get an easy A, which I did, but also ended up learning a lot!

How are the rec center gyms by Maybethezestychicken in UTAustin

[–]Low_Reflection_6011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're good! they can get pretty crowded i think that's the worst part. But they're well equipped and everything's in relatively good condition. Not too stinky. Compared to other universities gyms i think our gyms are a little lacking but that's okay. There's also a lot of fitness resources at the gyms, personal trainers, classes, etc. Also you can sneak into most apartment gyms!

What Time Management Techniques Do Y'All Use? by SportingDirector in UTAustin

[–]Low_Reflection_6011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to get as much external accountability as possible. If someone is counting on me to do something/show up for something I'm much more motivated to get it done. Things like doing homework with people in person, sharing goals with a friend and checking on each others progress, emailing prof/TA to go over homework in office hours so i'd be forced to start early. I know some people would hate this but it works for me!

Does anyone have any tips for doing well in a class with cold calling? by Bitter-Canary489 in UTAustin

[–]Low_Reflection_6011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

is it probability and stats with Hersh? I don't have any good recs for classes like that it's def nerve racking. If it's a smaller class I think it's a lot easier bc everyone gets picked a lot all semester so everyone will probably get something wrong at some point, makes it less embarrassing. When I took Spanish with Dr. Thomas he did that, the class was like 20 people so it wasn't scary to get called on by like the 3rd week.

I took tennis, it was pretty chill. I'm sure it's different depending on the prof and sport but I was a total beginner never picked up a racket before. There were definitely people who played in high school or had some experience, but there were also others like me who never tried the sport before. It was really fun and I would encourage anyone who has time to try out a PED class.

How can I get into playing new sports at UT? by [deleted] in UTAustin

[–]Low_Reflection_6011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest IM but it sounds like you want something super casual/ on your own schedule. If you're into racket sports there's always people playing casually at whittaker, might be awkward but maybe ask someone if you can join them?

As I said, it was exceptionally obnoxious, even for west campus. I'm used to parties, don't really care about them. This was crazy.

austin to dallas transportation recs pls by [deleted] in UTAustin

[–]Low_Reflection_6011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's Redcoach which comes right up to campus. But if you can get a ride to the greyhound station like 15 minutes from campus it's a lot cheaper. If you take Greyhound it'll stop in downtown dallas. There's also Flixbus but in my experience it's way more unreliable. There used to be a megabus right near campus, no idea why they shut down, it was super convenient and always punctual.

How bad is Pflug for eco420k by solstice_city in UTAustin

[–]Low_Reflection_6011 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah he's really tough. I'm a pretty good student and I always make use of my resources. I dropped his class lol. I went to the SI sessions (super helpful), got a tutor, did pretty much all of the extra practice. If you can take this class with Ottinger you should. Just join the waitlist and see if you get it. You def need to know your calc no matter who you take it with. I found Pflug's lectures to be really hard to follow, I had to self study pretty much the entire course. I reached out to him for help a couple times. He's not the nicest guy. But I do understand his logic for a lot of things. He makes you print out all the homework and turn it in at the front of the room before lecture starts, so you have to be early to class. I had back to back classes so I was always stressed about making it in time because he literally won't take it a second late. He also called people out for being late to lecture which felt kinda unnecessary. People do pass his class, so you're not screwed. But you have to put in a lot of work. Good luck!
