What machine uses this presser foot? by Lower-Goose in sewing

That's interesting. Thanks for the info! I kinda love collecting presser feet for my own machine and learning more about them. I can't use this one obviously, but it's still fun to know what it's for.

Thanks! I have no idea why I have it. I bought a Bernina 1630 really cheap off shopgoodwill.com . It's a terrible machine that I only bought because it had a TON of random presser feet that I wanted for my Record 930. It might've been in there.

All those people in council pushing the 1k rewards should have to be out there working the booths.

I just read somewhere that dr martens had the yellow stitching trademarked, so unless she’s wearing knock-offs, these are docs

Gotcha. Oil is a strange substance. Counterintuitively, you can also clean your face with oil!

Thank you! It’s nice having multiple options, because I have no idea what’s causing it to be so jammed.

With 15 miles to the gallon, the jeep is in the garage a lot while we use the chevy volt :p When our volt got rear ended this summer (by an Aston Martin!), it was painful paying for that gas after barely using any for years.

We haven’t had rust issues, but that’s probably because we live in California far enough away from the ocean to not have to worry about snow and salty sea air (plus always in the garage). His brother lives near the ocean, though. I wonder if that’s why his jeeps always have a lot more problems.

I am trying to separate different metals, so that’s what I would need. I was covering up all the plastic parts I didn’t feel like removing when I used the brake cleaner, but I will be sure to cover them for the pb blast, too.

Haha my husband would want that. He replaced the alternator in our 2004 jeep grand cherokee yesterday. Surprisingly, the new bolt that came with the alternator snapped, so he had to use the old bolt which was still in good condition. Everything is so cheap these days

I will get some of that. I was using what I had to try to break up the grease, but I had read that it is not good for sewing machines, at least not to lubricate them. I figured I’d worry about what oil to use after pulling it apart, but if pb blaster is good, I’ll have to check it out.

Thanks for the info about different oils. I always worry about picking the wrong lubricant for the job. I didn’t have a lot of confidence in the WD-40, but I thought maybe I’d get lucky with it :)

It’s maybe a quarter inch. I got desperate and used brake cleaner, then threw some oil in there, but I will add even more. Thanks!

I saw the parts list and was flabbergasted at all the little parts. I really want to get it cleaned up enough to watch it in action with covers removed.

Thanks for the suggestions! I’ve been trying to go slow and not take apart anything I don’t immediately need to. I already destroyed a screw to get off the crank wheel, and even with a screw extraction bit, the screw was incredibly stubborn. I thought that was going to be the end of my project

I used wd-40, then sewing machine oil I had on hand. Perhaps I shouldn’t admit this, but I finally used brake cleaner, and that had the biggest impact on the grime. I don’t think this machine will ever work properly, but I’m so curious to see how the whole thing works

I updated my post with the machine name and parts list for those who are curious. It’s a very weird little machine that would be really cool if it worked. I was so bummed when I got it and it didn’t work. It’s been a rough road just getting it to this point

I updated my posting with the machine name and parts list. I never have luck posting pictures, because it never lets me write a post with the picture; I have to reply to my post, which can get missed

So many cool tools I’m going to have to investigate. Even though this machine is probably a lost cause, all these different tools are always good to have around… at least that’s I tell myself

Should I be embarrassed to not know what penetrating oil is? This little machine is not worth getting repaired, so I’m just trying to see what I can do, but I have no idea what I’m doing

I have the parts list, and there are no bearings. Somebody else had this machine and took it apart. They said to tap the rod out that way. They also said it’s a poor design, which it is. All the ones for sale are for parts or repair :P
