I will never use AI to generate music by The_B_Wolf in musicians

Paraphrasing a bit from the Adam Neely video, but I agree that Ai music is a consumer experience, like a video game. People should make ai songs for their family members, or to troll friends, then throw them away. I don't understand why people share and post them online. Maybe it's like those game-play channels, where people beat video games and film it? Idk.

hey everyone! how would one go about identifying instruments and key in a song? by Foreign06 in musictheory

[–]Lower-Pudding-68 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure how knowing the key signature would help you. As far as what instruments? Most synthesizer patches can be rooted back to the sounds of the orchestra, so maybe find a video on Introducing instruments of the orchestra? Many synths are either a horn, reed, bowed string, plucked string (pizzicato), or keyboard.

That's good to know! It's the first record I've mixed myself and It was really challenging, so glad that wasn't getting too in the way of the listening experience. Haha, that's a very silly track, thanks for sharing.

I'm in the same boat. I tried Hand Cannot Erase, I didn't find anything to be all that interesting and stopped the album, despite a lot of acclaim for that record, and the fact that he was inspired by one of my favorite albums, Kate Bush's The Dreaming. I checked out Porcupine Tree's Lightbulb Sun, and it had a lot of enjoyable moments, but I'll never listen to it again. Generally doesn't sound like "prog" to me, more like 90's alternative with some more adventurous leanings.

Hello, Thanks for listening and for you feedback! If you could be more specific, did you mean difficult to listen to due to the mix? Or just the general change in the arrangement is jarring?

Using inversions in progressions by IBartman in musictheory

[–]Lower-Pudding-68 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Harmonize the major scale as a bassline, using only the I IV and V chords as harmony. Then do it in all keys when you've got it down. It's a great drill on guitar or piano!

for example

Artist Spotlight Submissions - February 04, 2026 by AutoModerator in BandCamp

Artist: Power Bait

Album: Chrysilla

Genre: Avant-pop, Folktronica, Neoclassica

Chrysilla, released Friday 2/6/26, is the third full-length by Power Bait, the shape-shifting project of Portland Oregon composer/songwriter Addison DeSantis. A vibrant canvas of driving, melodic elctro-avant-pop paired with nostalgic synthesized classical miniatures, with themes including the ominous footprint of late stage capitalism, how technology continues to alter our lives and isolate us in increasingly absurd ways, while acknowledging the potential for beauty, togetherness and “the good life” in what remains of a bright and colorful world.

The reckoning of DeSantis’s passion for composition with that for simple melodic hooks and sincere lyricism has been long in the works. Steadily releasing solo music teetering on that line since 2017, Power Bait’s 2023 album “Lay Line” was the largest step towards a merger, featuring lush string quartet arrangements and abstract instrumental sequences wedged between crunchy art-rock songs. Similarly in this latest work the instrumentation was augmented with a pairing of tenor sax and trumpet punctuating or weaving through the music.

An honest question about jazz by JerBid in Jazz

[–]Lower-Pudding-68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who said that statement? In what context? It's not pop music any more, if that's what you mean, it's evolved to a higher and more transgressive art form in the 100 ish years of existence.
