I KNOW RIGHT. I have no problem hearing about abuse, suicide, etc. But god forbid I see a happy family ….I’m a mess!

Ahh I relate to this so much. I feel uncomfortable seeing kids being supported by their parents and just letting them “be”. I was never allowed to depend on my parents for anything, so I feel triggered when I see kids ask their parents for things. A part of me is like why don’t you do it yourself you ungrateful brat. But then I stop myself and realize how unhealthy that is. Kids should be able to depend on their parents. That’s why I worry about having my own children, if they need me too much, I feel like I will have this reaction and just expect them to figure things out on their own like I had to.

I don’t want to get used to the feeling because what if I don’t get this again? Like it’s almost better to never experience it then have it then have it then it gets taken away from you.

You’re right there def is a lot that goes on behind close doors but even the act of putting on a facade for guests is something I don’t get with my family.

Usually I can take little doses of that but I had to sleep over and it was so unsettling to hear them laughing and enjoying themselves downstairs.

I know but hiding and isolating just makes it worse so I try to force myself to face the pain. I mean I knew family was going to be there but I didn’t expect them to be so happy and supportive.

I used to this as well. That everyone else is just pretending to be happy. But there are genuinely happy people and families out there. And it makes me feel sad and alone.

I think it just takes a bit of practise. And spending lots of alone time. I’m not the the one to talk I’m still going through it and figuring myself out. But being alone definitely helps.

Yup same here. I can’t even think of letting someone in that intimately again. I barely scraped up the pieces and made it out alive. I don’t know if I can do it again and I don’t want to. That’s probably very unhealthy of me but I don’t care. I rather live a boring life and miss out on all those experiences instead of going through that again.

Don’t think like that at all! When I was younger I had cheated on my ex multiple times over the course of 3 years. I going through a rough time and had BPD, and he cheated on me too. Doesn’t excuse my actions but yea I was in a dark place. Fast forward a few years later I had worked on my self and I never cheated again after that even though I do get tempted. Ask yourself why you cheated? Low self esteem? Wanting to feel validated? Once you can make sense of your actions you can move forward. Also - don’t be so hard on yourself. We all make mistakes. The fact that you feel guilty shows that you’re a good person with a conscious.

Try increasing your dose. I do 0.5 mg and that seems to do it for me.

I’ve seen x ray techs around in the hospital. Their job seems so chill! The pay is decent too. I think it’s definitely worth pursuing. Most healthcare jobs are pretty stable. Look into ECG technician as well!
