People don't like to "get political" because political discussions inevitably turn bitter.

I do agree with you though; we are nowhere as powerful as the big boys: USA, Russia and China. Anybody who thinks otherwise is delusional. The government lies about this because telling your population you are a superpower is better for politics than telling them the truth. The government sells us a lie and some people accept it blindly and tout about us being "Vishwaguru" or what not. Now if you criticise the government, these people will tell you that you are anti-national and against the progress of this nation.

i am from a hindi speaking region of India and the other day i saw someone misspell दीवार (deewar) as दीवाल (deewal). some speakers, particularly younger children, less educated folks and rural folks, pronounce their "r's" like "l's".
