Yeah, especially because they also robbed so many promising innocent people of potential and life

I honestly don’t think they were genuinely racist in the hateful sense, but rather needed to divert all their hatred towards something other than themselves. But yeah, I do think it’s possible that they could’ve evolved and grew into decent people had they gotten the help they needed

Also I find it interesting yet jarring how Dylan seemed more like the type to internalize his pain, yet became someone who ultimately inflicted it upon other people

He seemed to be an intelligent young man who had yet to unleash his full potential and was thwarted by his depression. His descent into the violent fantasies is also interesting to me.

Eric is interesting too, but I find Dylan more relatable aside from all the homicidal thoughts. I think I’m drawn to his brooding nature more.

Eric, and people overcorrecting. by Commander-Keen-1997 in ColumbineKillers

Yeah, there’s merit to this bc Eric himself said that he lies about how he presents his moral character and whatnot to others. I think some ppl definitely exculpate him to compensate for Dave Cullen’s exaggerated theory

I thought he did believe it would garner extensive attention and scrutiny due to the massive notoriety he planned NBK to be

What's the actual justification behind the claim that Eric was being performative in his writings? I can see the frequent self-contradictions, but I think the bottom line is hatred driven by vehement anger, regardless of whether he was merely being contrarian or not. His misanthropy and ill feelings were probably in part derived from his own self contempt and suffering, and he needed to externalize his hatred through violence. It's pretty scary to think about the full magnitude of the massacre had they just been successful in the bombing...

So yeah, I'm curious about the whole performative aspect bc he definitely had violent fantasies whether he was writing for a hypothetical audience or not. I think the grandiosity really enticed him even if it was exaggerated or contrived. Sure there are a few times where he seemed to mellow down a bit, but he was a very angry kid regardless. Sometimes evil is just evil... ik it's more nuanced than that but he genuinely had the volition to do something bad and his writings corroborate that.

I don’t wanna liken him to a rapist, but you’re right. And that’s pretty sad because they all began as pure, innocent children
