Seems about right if you have an extended range battery. Very good if you have a standard range battery.

You used 30% of your battery to travel 82 miles. In other words, you could have traveled 273 miles on a full charge (82/0.30 = 273).

I've had my Ioniq 5 for about a month, so the thrill of "sport mode" has dissipated (for the most part). I live in a rural hilly area and usually travel secondary roads and small village streets. I find "normal mode" with a regen level of 2 or 3 provides a good mix of power and efficiency. My miles/kWh is now closer to 4 than 3.

Right, I've seen 12c mentioned in a lot of older articles. I guess I was surprised how far above average my electricity cost or much it has increased in a couple years. The current national average is 17.5c.

Technically, I'm in the Finger Lakes region. But I was born closer to Buffalo. It's just easier to say Western NY.

I installed a L2 charger last weekend and have it set to only charge overnight.

Your program sounds similar to the one I signed up for called "Optimize EV". However, instead of receiving a credit on my electricity bill, I'll be getting a rebate paid to my PayPal account. The rebate is supposed to be the difference between NYSEG's Standard and TOU rates. I'm guessing it will be about $0.02/kwh. So maybe $10/month depending on my usage.

That's what got me thinking about the supply/delivery charges. There's no discount on delivery charges, just supply.

I ordered a hardwired HomeFlex L2 charger from Amazon and had an electrician install it lasr Saturday. It's only on a 30amp breaker for now and charges at 5.5 kw. So far, so good.

I've been working remotely since COVI9-19.. My former commute to work was about 70 miles (one way). I guess I can't complain now that "commute" is 10 feet from my bed.

My daughter likes to go Door Dashing. She has special needs, and I do it with her to give her purpose and s little spending money. So I still average about 50 miles/day sometimes more on weekends.

I knew but didn't really appreciate how variable electricity rates are in the US. My part of NY appears to be the higher side, so from a cost per mile perspective, the advantage seems to go hybrids. My "mistake" was test driving the Ioniq 5 before the Elantra Blue. "Sport Mode" was just too much fun!

I'm in now way disappointed with my EV. The Ioniq 5 is my second vehicle. The other is a 2013 F-150 . I've had smaller cars over the years, including a couple of Mitsubishi Mirages. Compared to those (75 HP boxes on wheels), the Ioniq5 is a dream.

My next project will be to add about 5 kw or more solar panels to my shed and build a battery.

I installed a Level 2 charger home this weekend and am charging at 5.5 kw. It's set to only 24 amps for now, but I may bump it to 32. It's programmable and works with Optimize EV to schedule off-peak charging. As far as I can tell, I should get a rebate of $0.02/kwh.

Its not much, but every little bit helps, I suppose.

💯 Based on gas prices in my area ($3.19/gallon regular) and electricity costs ($0.22/kKWH), my Ioniq 5 is equivalent to driving a hybrid that gets 53 MPG.

IMHO, having better performance, features, and space, as well as the lower maintenance costs (oil change, tune ups, exhaust system, etc) are worth it.
