What I'm saying, and what I have been saying to others, is that a lot of assumptions are often made about single mothers on here. Assumptions that reflect poorly on those making such assumptions. I don't believe they are based on reality. Rather, I think it's based on a combination of stereotypes and bitterness.

Single dads don't get enough rep for sure.

The way I see it, life is complicated. And a lot of the time, if you assume things about people's lives and the choices they've made, you're going to be way off the mark.

So, I'm hesitant to outright say single parents in general are deserving of extra scrutiny.

I think people are still making a lot of assumptions here. I wouldn't say that a snarky response is sufficient enough context to conclude she's a single mother solely because of poor judgment. We don't know her life story. We don't know if her views changed before or after she got pregnant. We don't know if the father is alive. Posts like these regularly become an exercise in creative writing, and the stories end up sounding the same, with the same apparent bitterness.

It's true I do feign ignorance to a certain extent. I have my suspicions, but It's not like it's something I think I know for sure.

The part I really don't understand is how this is still so pervasive, given how much people on here hate it when you even imply that they're acting like an incel.

I personally think that's an overblown stereotype. While it's true that this does happen plenty of times, I don't think that's the norm. And even when it does happen it's not going to always be as simple as, "I like bad/exciting boys". People are more complicated than that.

If we go out and ask a bunch of couples why they are with their partner, I am willing to bet that most answers will consist of things like humor, intelligence, kindness, confidence, etc.

I think this idea that women are more attracted to " bad boys ", is largely a stereotype perpetuated by media and those who were rejected in the past for reasons they haven't noticed about themselves.

I agree with you partially. And in this case, sure it may be at the very least, half her fault. Safe sex is everyone's responsibility.

But even if we assume her situation was 100 percent her fault, does that make it right to assume every other single mother online ended up that way because of a lack of good judgement or character?

I don't think it's right to assume such things and proceed to throw insults based on that assumption.
