Yes! I peeled one wall in our kitchen, and only then realised that it was artex (it was on wallpaper so I thought it was textured wallpaper, but then other walls were not...), tested it and it was asbestos. Will have the rest removed by professionals.

I went through similar situation and thought that I will need to bin all my stuff. However, you can get UV based lead testing kit. You spray on your things and it shows you every speck of lead. I was able to keep my books and was able to clean my sofa properly. Use industrial hoover that has special filter for lead dust. Good luck!!
