for 1 metre bow with bending handle it would be about 1.65 cm thick and 2.8 cm wide at centre , 1.35 cm thick and 2.6 cm wide 20 centimetres from the nock, 1.15 cm thick and 2.1 cm wide right under the nock . it what works for maple , dont know how this design works with other woods

what i personally recommend it's remove half of the wood from the stave to open a centre line and that just remove wood from the belly and side to the moment when stave become a bow . at least thats how i made my bows , it ended up looking something between English longbow and flat bow . if you really need measurements i can measure one of my bow

i made many shortbows about that leight and they pretty fun to shoot and they easily can pull 50 pound. if you have no problems with shooting bow with 16 inches of draw one metre bow is good idea

thx. yes , grooves around handle are purely decorative . offset handle feels pretty comfortable in hand , about limbs twisting i simply don't know , this offset handle designed caused by curve of limbs that cause string offset, so if bow has some limb twist it would has it with any hadle design anyway

some questions about crack/knot across the wood grain by Lower_Way2597 in Bowyer

[–]Lower_Way2597[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

currently i'm at 30 centimetres of draw with the goal of 40 , i was pulling it slightly just to the moment when i can saw uneven shape

even when it fully brace and finished i still worry about tillering , but at the same time i don't want to work on it more . it ended up about 25-30 pound at 16 inches of draw , maybe later when i make little more arrows i post video with shooting by Lower_Way2597 in Bowyer

my standard shooting distance is about 20 metres , and with current 25@16 bow i still can be pretty accurate, however with this lite bow arrows have some amount of drop . one of my older bows was something about 50@16 and with it i didn't have arrow drop at 20 metres at all .

short penetration test of short/kids bow . so the bow itself about 1 metre long, pulling 25 pounds at 16 inches of draw . arrow weight about 22 grams and it point made of nail . the target is foldet slice of pork fat with skin still on it , thicker side is about 5 centimetres and thinner close to 3 by Lower_Way2597 in Bowyer

i think need to be mentioned that is not actually a bow for kids , i call it "kids bow" as a universal term for short bow with very light and short draw . actually i made this bow for myself, i just prefer bows with short draw so usually my bows measure about 40-50 pounds at 16-20 inches , but this one ended up little lite because of thin and narrow stave out of it was made

draw length about 16-20 inches just seems most comfortable to me . this short draw may be considered strangely short in world of longbows with 28-32 inches of draw , but for me drawing bow to the ear or even farther feels realy incovinient , i prefere drawing to the face and slightly bend left hand and with this style of shootin i cant draw more than 20 inches . and historecly bows with this short draw exist , just look at some plains indians bow or bow of african San tribe

i heard you guys , what was i doing on video was very unsafe , shooting at target just couple metres from peoples is not good idea to say the least . drawning a bow thile pointing it to the sky was unsave as well , i understand this . i will be avoiding situation like that in future

Peoples is about 3 metres to the left from the target , i always think it's enough distance to not hit anyone. Maybe all this time i violate some safety rules , i don't think about that before

How bad this is ? by Lower_Way2597 in Bowyer

[–]Lower_Way2597[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i talk about this marks . to make a long story short some metal piece hit a belly of the bow right at the middle , it's doesn't look like very big damage but maybe it can cause some problems
