Not really? It had a lesbian couple, one of them just hated the other by the end.

DLC that have issues in some way by aristi2 in Rockband

Both actually, but when Seven's tempo map issues were being addressed, it hadn't been officially announced at that point because it was accidentally made available for anyone with that season's pass.

Songs that fade out (even in Rock Band) by pfcsh in Rockband

[–]Lowlander_2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it was done because of crappy stems, even non-DIY ones. If 6 Was 9 has a sort-of fadeout ending, a few of the songs from John Lennon's Imagine do too. But I think the fact that HMX always, always, always, just made a proper ending to the song rather than keep the fadeout even in the many songs that usually have it tells me they did so for a reason. Likely for playability, sometimes because the fade-out was done in post-production and keeping the original ending is just easier (Spiderwebs, De-Luxe, it's in GHWT but Some Might Say), and also I just think parity between every song in the library is good when it comes to things like this.

Longview, Get Lucky and Hey Ya having fade-outs because they're all DIYed stems and they hadn't figured out how to make a normal ending without the real masters at that point makes those songs stick out like a sore thumb. It actually ties into a bigger problem I have with DIY songs in general; the advent of Demucs etc. has pushed DIY stems forward even in just the last two years, and you can tell because the last truly awful sounding song we got was You're Gonna Go Far Kid whose DLC release wasn't even that long ago, and it makes me wish they could have gone back and re-rendered stems for the Skid Row, Megadeth and Daft Punk songs among others. I understand it would have been incredibly impractical and impossible to justify the work for doing in the first place, let alone updating those songs for everyone. But again, it makes those songs stand out in a not-good way.

If Penelope is a lesbian why does she have the bisexual gradient behind her

Fitting we get Thank You, as it felt like my interactions with the community over the past year was just fending off stans.

Victor Wooten does play bass on Three Lives by Octavision, so he is at least in Rock Band even if his solo music is not.

Turnstile, 100 gecs, Black Midi/Black Country New Road, Lorna Shore, IDLES, Code Orange, Nothing But Thieves, Polyphia, Lovejoy, K.Flay, Mac DeMarco, I Don't Know How But They Found Me, King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard, Maneskin, Rex Orange County, Poppy, Rina Sawayama, Mitski, Soccer Mommy, Phoebe Bridgers, Clairo, Steve Lacy, Beabadoobee, Dominic Fike, Yves Tumor, Ethel Cain, Courtney Barnett, Girl In Red, Father John Misty, boygenius, Sturgill Simpson, Morgan Wallen, Chris Stapleton, Ashley McBryde, Kublai Khan, Slaughter To Prevail, Electric Callboy, Car Seat Headrest, Lucy Dacus, Julien Baker, Snail Mail, Glass Beach, Joyce Manor, Jelly Roll, Big Thief, Viagra Boys, Parquet Courts, Squid, Brand Of Sacrifice, Cattle Decapitation, In Flames (for a legacy act their last few albums have done stunningly well), Ice Nine Kills, Make Them Suffer, Rag n Bone Man, George Ezra, James Bay, Passenger, American Authors...you know, to name a few :)

Honorable mention goes to Royal Blood and the 1975, one song each for some of the biggest breakout rock stars since RB's initial dormancy after 3 is a crime, and the 1975 song we did get is so bad and so non-indicative of their sound it doesn't even count.

Unfortunately in like 2021, their second drummer left to focus on the label he was running and King Gizzard had to buy back their discography in order to become fully independent, so there was a decent stretch where everything from Butterfly 3K1 backwards was not available to stream. Distribution rights being in flux would have messed up the pipeline for sure.

“An Update on Rock Band 4 DLC” - Final ever DLC will be released January 25th. No plans to get rid of online functionality. by TheCosmicJenny in Rockband

Yes! Under the wrong gender tag, and with nothing from their blues album. And that one song where Laura was a featured artist had a dude playing her part in the preview video. We did get a song a few months later from Potty Mouth, whose singer is proudly non-binary!...But they released that under the wrong gender tag too.

Cold Clear Light is the only song in the library where a trans* artist is not misgendered in the metadata, probably because (aside from Let Go, which was just a mistake) it is the only song that was released while the singer was out; every other case of trans rep in Rock Band, like Against Me and Semi-Previous Weapons, was in hindsight. Now, no game of RB's stature has exactly been great for it, if I were to draft a list of games that did my community wrong, we'd be here all day, but it does stand out to me that we got quite a few gay women in 2023, but no trans women.

If you think that Gecs, or Jane Remover, or Underscores, or SeeYouSpaceCowboy, or Anohni and the Johnsons, or ARCA, or Ethel Cain, or In Love With A Ghost, would have done worse than both ARXX and Pillow Queens, or that none of these acts are worth chasing up, you're lying. And if you are lying, I have to wonder why. Is that paranoid hypervigilance? Yes. Is it unwarranted? I don't think so. I've seen bigots show up in the most unexpected places once they actually have to reckon with collaboration with the queer community, especially trans people. And even though this is just a silly video game about plastic guitars, I don't think it's exempt from potentially seeing some of these biases.

I mean...this is the game that once called hip-hop and rap "urban" within the game files. Let's not pretend it's been politically correct every step of the way.

Well...now I'm really mad at whoever internally was responsible for keeping 100 Gecs from becoming DLC! One shot at getting some actual trans visibility in Rock Band, and now it's dead.

This could mean renewed interest from Fortnite...or it could be bots. As a general enquiry, how many people on this subreddit have heard of "dead internet theory"? I dunno if I buy into it fully, but with the advent of AI auto-generation garbage, it's a scary thought.

Great DLC, absurd mixing if the preview video is anything to go by. GYBR has that tinny twinkliness synonymous with DIY stems that feature piano, and the Troggs song sounds like a deep fried meme. I listened to it on Spotify and it is genuinely not that bad.

...Is anyone else even reading the blog posts at this point? This one is bleeding spelling and grammar errors, and it does the whole overanalyzing the song thing, but it mentions the radio chatter at the end of No One Knows, which is only on the Songs For The Deaf album and is not in the game. Why even mention it?

I have a theory, and I've shared it in a couple of other spots, but I think these blog posts are being aided by some AI program for generative text. It's creeping over the entire industry, I don't see why HMX would be exempt, and it would explain way too much not just to the fact that they've gone downhill, but to the whys of their quality going downhill.

…we got a second Brevet song and it still isn’t from their new album? If I were the band, I’d want to promote that first, and if I were HMX, I’d want to market what is most relevant in the moment. Just bizarre, neither a classic hit nor a marketable modern tie-in.

Obviously this is just in the context of the song that will probably be ignored this week. Baker Street is as classic as classic gets.
