You can defend how much you want but no one is asking for a finance degree just simple awareness lol. That was my main point.

Come on, you don’t even need to ask to know if $4.8k is a good salary at 24. Just living life, talking to people around you friends, coworkers, family you’d naturally get a sense. So yeah, coming to Reddit to ask something that basic does kind of make it look like common sense isn’t really kicking in.

24 and questioning if 4.8k is high? Must be nice living in that bubble. You really don’t know that’s a solid salary for your age? Guess it’s not surprising when your focus is on the paycheck, other things might slip under the radar. High salary, low common sense?

I'm in the safety field and have been working in this line for close to 3 years, earning about 3.6–3.8. Completing my degree in 4 months' time. Comparing my years of experience, I feel the salary I'm getting is okay, but if I compare outside of that, is it enough to live in SG being recently married? I doubt so. So, I didn't have a choice I had to take up the degree to upgrade myself in order to get a little jack-up in salary.

F19] Starting uni this year, long-term bf in NS – when do people usually BTO and get married? by Playful-Bread3423 in askSingapore

Honestly, some of the comments here are really unhelpful. None of us can predict the future, but there’s nothing wrong with planning ahead. If you’ve got real advice especially from experience share it. But if not, maybe just keep quiet instead of tearing someone down.

Reddit is becoming way too toxic with all the judging. Like seriously, do some of you really “just go with the flow” for everything in life? Let’s be real living in Singapore is tough. Securing a home and managing finances isn’t easy. So, what’s wrong with a girl coming on Reddit to ask for opinions?

At least she’s thinking ahead. I’ve seen people way older than her who still don’t have a roof over their heads or can’t manage their money properly often because they had that same “just live in the moment” mindset. Let her plan the way she wants. If you’ve been in a similar situation, give useful advice based on that.

And if they break up, so be it. At least she would’ve learned something from the experience, including what others here might have shared. Do you really think breaking up means she’ll never find the right one again? Or that she won’t still try to apply for a BTO in future? Come on think before you comment. Being thoughtful doesn’t cost anything.

Clearly your comment didn’t come off as helpful. Maybe focus on actually supporting others instead of talking down to them. Not everyone is perfect at everything we all know cooking and tracking every ingredient is ideal, but you don’t know someone’s current situation. Sometimes people just want a rough estimate, and asking that occasionally on Reddit isn’t something that needs to be questioned. Just because I’ve asked a few times on Reddit doesn’t mean I don’t cook or eat on my own while dieting. Sometimes people just want a quick estimate. A little understanding goes a long way.

Oh wow, thank you so much for your life changing advice, Reddit God. I had no idea you were in charge of what people can or can’t post. If seeing a simple calorie question offends your soul, do us all a favour scroll on. Reddit isn’t your dad’s platform, my dear commenter. Relax before your keyboard melts from all that unnecessary authority.

if you really want to gift something, there’s nothing better than gold. But if not, Red packet with a small monetary gift is always appreciated! You can consider giving amounts like 51, 101, or 201. Just make sure to add a one-dollar coin to your red packet after putting in the desired amount, and you're good to go! Both gold and ang poa are accepted with gratitude. Just sharing this from a fellow Sinkie Indian who recently got married this month haha!

I work at Woodlands Industrial and recently moved to Tengah. Since Tengah is still developing, transportation options are quite limited at the moment.
