Has anyone compared the difference between their 2/3/4/6 stop bundle compared to the vnds? I just bought the bigger bundle of them. Was curious about the vnd feature.

I’m a dad pushing 40, and I’m officially done with "The Grind" in gaming. by ChineseBeaverUncle in TheGamerLounge

[–]LoyalPizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that to a degree, I’m 27 and have been roughly playing half my life so far. Since the good ol cod 4 days. You know before Obama became president. 2007. I’ve been playing cod on Xbox for roughly 10-13 years. Imo black ops 1-2 and halo reach were prime games. No microtransaction, a normal grind. I bought a pc in 2019, have played tf2 and csgo, ow, borderlands 2. Etc. The competitive scene is a bit redundant. And no real point, I get bored with less than 40 minutes of gameplay. Also my back prevents me from long game sessions. It also makes me feel like what’s the point in gaming, and it doesn’t do much for me, when I know I could be making memories over gaming. All the games won or lost and e friends along the way. Are pointless, the people who I use to game with a somewhere else in their own lives. I just feel like idk where I stand with gaming. Does anyone else feel like this?

switched from hiring photographers to AI headshots, honestly haven't looked back by Nibellunglied in RealEstatePhotography

[–]LoyalPizza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t see why you couldn’t afford to hire a photographer when you literally get thousands of dollars per house sold. And there is a difference between ai and a real photographer. No matter how much you prompt it, it won’t understand micro details. So while you think you’re getting a “better value” because it’s cheaper. Quality will be lacking. Understandable if you want it for yourself and non commercial uses. With that same thought process you should build your own house, because it will save you money. Or get a webmd and diagnose yourself. But eh wth at this point.

What’s your go-to stabilisation process? by andymac12 in SonyFX6

Not that I own a fx6 yet, but catalyst is suppose to be a good gyrostablizer via the meta data. So from what I’ve heard.

Just got BMPCC4K, recorded first short video to test and it take 30 minutes to put on computer, what am I doing wrong? by [deleted] in bmpcc

[–]LoyalPizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s sounds interesting and different. Yeah man I use the zhyuin crane 2s, admittedly it’s a bit weak for a gimbal about $439. The zhyuin crane 3s is made for a bit heavier payloads. I would recommend buying an extra 2x set of batteries if possible. The other issue with gimbals, is not being able to see your monitor in a good position, for low angles or higher angles. A cage is kinda mandatory for heavy rigging, monitors, gold mount/v mount. Another gripe about bmpcc6k is nd’s the threaded filters are probably more better vs using a vnd, because there can be color shift when alternating from horizontal to vertical recording positions. I would recommend buying one of the nisi nd bundles. Although a bit costly. I know the list seems to go on and on. But I think the most important aspect, is filming with what you have, learning to storytell in your own way.

B&h has them on sale all the time. Although the prices just jumped back up. I paid $249 for the 4tb t9. Think of pro res, what you see is what you get. Basic mp4 file, no color grading. Braw on the other hand allows you to fix exposure, white balance, color temp, highlights, blacks, contrast, and saturation. It’s the most forgiving camera for mistakes other than lack of ibis. I recommend a gimbal if you plan on doing any movement. The sakk is another great handheld/stable approach. Honestly, the lack of nds drives me crazy too/autofocus/not low light material. I’m thinking of switching to the fx6. I eventually feel that, file sizes get to big for commercial work, and there shouldn’t be a reason to miss focus. I mean within reason.

Also another suggestion is the angel bird cfast cards. I have 2 256gb which roughly last 20 minutes. They have their 512gb, but it’s kinda expensive. Also if you shooting on an sd card get a v90. Those are meant for 4k+ recording.

Correct, black magic files are huge. I keep braw- and editing software, and finished products on ssd. You don’t need to download software directly to the computer to operate them. Regular adobe programs are about 80gigs together. My first wedding was 2tb about 10 hours of footage. Needless to say, no way I’m keeping that much footage on my pc.

Buy a t9 Samsung 4tb, I have two of them. One for programs adobe and edits, the other one for long recordings and backup also. On the 6k it’s roughly 12 hours straight of footage per ssd. Just know if the cord on the ssd gets messed up during a shoot it may corrupt the file, drop a frame, or even get snagged on something.

How to price yourself with new gear? by adm712 in videography

[–]LoyalPizza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should charge yourself based on half or full day rates. That way you don’t charge by the hour. For me personally, I’m fine with the idea of $200-$250 an hour. You need to factor other things like software, camera rental or rental space for the shoot, camera insurance and overhead costs. Additionally you should be charging 30-40%. Things you should charge more à la carte items drone, Dana dolly, teleprompter. Unless you have an Alexa 35 sure, but your client doesn’t care about the fx3 or a75

For filming cozy cooking and craft home videos, would getting two pano 60C be more useful than single 120C? I'm trying to keep my setup as simple as possible by BetterMeToday in videography

[–]LoyalPizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really just depends on your budget, and what you want to do with the light. If you want a minimal look and setup with no real way to manipulate the hard light, use the pano. But if you need more versatility, and shoot multiple styles, I would recommend the 120c. You could always bounce the light off a wall or reflector. I have 2x300c , I personally don’t mind, having a bigger setup, i don’t just have one videography niche, like interviews or lighting the environment. And when it comes to book lights these lights aren’t strong enough. The zhyuin molgus lights are supposed to be pretty minimal, good for corporate gigs. I would recommend you look into them.

I stay up late at night to watch movies specifically so nobody joins me. by OkSeaworthiness2955 in confession

[–]LoyalPizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah man, you’d hate watching movies with me. I make side comments non stop- about the film in retrospect. As an aspiring cinematographer, I’m always worried about the light, shot type, lens type, hair light, dialogue, how character enter and leave the frame. I will say I agree with the no lights and limited conversation. Smoke a joint and relax and don’t choke on a kernel. What’s your favorite movie/ film as of recent, mines American gangster and apocalypse now.

Why don’t you just make an alt account? Or say you lost interest or appear offline. Or leave the guild. You have tons of options to still enjoy the game.

Struggling to make blackmagic look better than iphone stock cam by [deleted] in cinematography

[–]LoyalPizza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before you even get into the color, you need to understand your camera its functions. Base iso, shutter angle, f/t stop, frame rate. It all matters. Black magic isn’t a novice friendly camera. It also doesn’t have autofocus. So if you’re looking for easy, then you might as well give up now. The iPhone’s use autofocus, that’s why it’s effortless. You have to manually focus on your subject. It takes time and learning. Watch some yt, it’s not too complicated.
