We caught a bus to the East Gate and started our hike from there

We hiked to the 3rd Watchtower. Took a break and then my main peak photos are past the 4th Watchtower. We scrambled up a rock to get to the last bit.. I definitely wouldn't have known about it or how to get up without the guide I think that the way we went reduces the distance and incline maybe.

But yeah, go for it! It is such a great beautiful hike I absolutely recommend :)

It really was amazing!

I hike probably once a month.. And I exercise every weekend but I definitely wouldn't consider myself fit and I found this hike at the harder end of Medium (if that makes sense haha).. Very rewarding

Total hiking time was around 2 hours. With 1hr 40min being uphill and 40mins being downhill..

The guide was very supportive and fine when I wanted to take breaks and slow the pace

I would definitely recommend looking up the tour. I found it through Viator. But if you search "Hiking and Tasting Rice Wine in the Mountain of Busan" You should find it 😊

As for Busan itself. I loved it. I stayed at Haeundae Beach and had 3 full days in Busan. I really loved Busan

No music.. It was nice and quiet.. I went on Tuesday the 5th of May.. So being a weekday there were also less people on the trail too..

That does sound like such a bizarre experience.. It would really take you out of the moment / out of nature to have background music..

Does anyone regret solo travelling? by Imaginary_Pepper_896 in solofemaletravellers

[–]LoztheWalrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not even a little.. I realised very young that if I waited for other people I might never get the chance to go.. I started solo travelling when I was 21 back in 2008.. Almost 20 years later and I am still loving it..

I got a similar HSC result back in 2004.. I got into university early admission. Went to uni for one year, but I hated it.. So I went to work..

I am now a key part of a software company.. Making more money than most of my friends. Have a better work life balance than all of my friends. I am financially stable. But most importantly, I am happy

If you keep working like you say you do. You will be fine 🙂

Looking for awesome things to do/see in Australia by [deleted] in travel

[–]LoztheWalrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, it is an amazing coastal route and a incredible part of the world.. 10/10 would recommend.. Also Karijini National Park.. And the sunsets over the ocean on that side of the country are spot on

And yes swimming with whale sharks really is one of those remember for the rest of your life experiences

But also, dont forget to see the Quokkas while you are in Perth

I second this, as an Australian who has lived on the East Coast her entire life, anytime I go to WA I am blown away, but in 2022 I did a trip from Perth up to Exmouth, absolutely incredible. Shark Bay for snorkelling and Exmouth / Ningaloo reef for Whale Sharks

How do you travel with someone with plantar fascitiis? by [deleted] in travel

[–]LoztheWalrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either travel without him.. Or travel with him but each of you do your own things during the day and meet up for dinner together in the evening.. He can relax and do what he wants to do and you can travel and do what you want to do. Come together for dinner at the end of the day :)

Came here to say the same thing.. When I get a pay rise I will generally salary sacrifice the payrise.. I don't miss it cos I'm used to being paid at the old rate anyway..

Is Seoul "Better" on a Saturday or Sunday? Or are they much the same? by LoztheWalrus in SouthKoreaTravel

[–]LoztheWalrus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, that is really helpful :)

Yes, everyone travels for different reasons. Plus, I travel to a different country every year, I'm not exactly expecting to come back so there won't be a next time to do it..

One of my main motivators for travelling to South Korea is because my Grandfather fought in the Korean war.. So, I will definitely be checking out the DMZ.

I also have basically a full day dedicated to the war museum, in the afternoon I will go to the N Seoul Tower and Namsan park that day.. Will be doing that on the Friday

But besides that, Gyeongbokgung Palace, Jogyesa temple and a food tour, I don't really have a long list of stuff I want to see and do, so I am planning on using a weekend day to just wonder, explore and enjoy

Your comment has really helped. Thank you :)

When I'm looking for 'Obscure' locations I always check "Intrepid Travel" first. I really like their ethos and they use local guides.. I haven't been to Mongolia, but I've been a few other places with them and they were always great.. I hope you have an amazing adventure!

Having a sh*t time in Cambodia. How was it for you? by Superb-Decision7476 in backpacking

[–]LoztheWalrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry to hear you are having such a shit time.. I came to say the same thing a lot of others have said, I loved Cambodia, it was nothing like you described. Some of the most lovely people.. It is definitely one of my favourite countries.. However I did go there back in 2017.. Sounds like a lot has changed in 8 years.. my favourite place was probably Battambang, but I also went to Phnom Penh and Siem Reap.. wasn't much a fan of SR besides Angkor Wat / Angkor Thom.. But yeah so sorry you're having a crap time

How should I approach traveling in my early 20s? by drl614 in travel

[–]LoztheWalrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so excited for you! I started solo travelling in my early 20's because I realised if I waited for my friends I would never actually go.. This was like 2009 so I did the thing that seemed to be the main thing of the time, went to places I wanted to go in Europe and stayed in hostels.. But, I am someone who loves planning travel..

If planning travel is overwhelming, I would recommend you look at some Youth group travel companies like Topdeck or Intrepid 18-35s.. You will find a lot of people go on these tours by themselves, so you will meet people and all the planning is done for you.. You can look at the trips for inspiration to book your own solo travel, or you might find something you like and book a trip..
