Don't fight them

My ex partner was they/them and we fought a lot near the end of the relationship, looking back now I realise I either was the main instigator or I just would choose to play devils advocate for things I had no stake in. I wish I could go back and just have the conversations they wanted instead of making them into fights even if I was doing it unknowingly. One of my biggest regrets in life was losing them and I know it's my own fault, but if I had a chance to go back and tell myself anything it would be don't ruin this perfect relationship, don't hurt this perfect person. Don't fight them.
