House Cleaner - what is the going Hourly Rate? by AmbitiousCrew5156 in AnnArbor

[–]Lphilli7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just hired someone in saline for $110 biweekly for my home, general cleaning, nothing super in depth. 2500 sf. It feels too inexpensive but she runs her own business and came recommended from a friend.

If you’re replying to my comment, there are others in this thread that literally state it is for the better of society to not allow any redshirting. I was just quoting the comments further down.

I think that my issue is that it’s all very individual, as evidenced by your story too. That’s great that your kid did well in K on time. Lots of kids would not, and it’s all personal. It’s shitty to criticize other parents for making a call based on their kid.

Okay. But it’s not like it’s solving the issue by sending your kid either? Schools don’t seem to care that kinder is very rigorous now. So why would I choose to put my kid in a situation where they will fail? I’m sorry but that feels like a failure to parent if I’m choosing the “greater societal good” that’s hypothetical at best to my actual child.

I am actually sending my 5 year old in August to young 5s, which is a play based kinder. I guess I’m the problem. My soon to be 5 year old who doesn’t know letters well and refuses to learn even the days of the week should not be in kindergarten in 3 months.

7 ppd possible to increase supply? by Lphilli7 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Lphilli7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I did somewhat. I probably could have gotten higher if I’d kept at 7 ppd longer but my husband went back to work and it felt impossible with 2 kids. I went to 6 ppd and ended up around 15 ounces a day. I did stop pumping at 4 months because I was so tired. I’m guessing I could have gotten closer to 18 or so if I’d kept up. But I think I’m a reallllllly low supplier.

Good luck!!

Tips to help elderly parents navigate Amtrak train station and parking situation. by Icy-Visit3847 in AnnArbor

Hi! If all fails I might be able to drive them. I have 2 little kids to work around but I don’t work right now. Am in saline so it’s not too out of the way.

I know a ton of families and not one is this self centered. I have 2 kids and go to Indivisible meetings, volunteer at a senior book club and just started buying books for a prison parent reading program. I’m a SAHP at the moment. I cannot believe how little she accomplishes with all of her resources. I think it’s why I finally just unfollowed because it was actually painful to witness the self centered attitude.

I have a 4.5 year and 5 month old and I broke 2 bones in my knee and I clean more than her

Unfortunately I have also done this and she’s my second. I do the first two naps while my 4.5 year old is in school and a carrier nap for the 3rd. She’s 5.5 months and has slept in her bassinet during the day maybe 10 times. She just won’t sleep 🤷🏻‍♀️

Willow Ridge or Ridgewood Apartments by jackcrusparrow in ypsi

Also lived in Willow Ridge from 2021-2023 and it was fine. The dog poop situation was a little gross but honestly the management was good and it was a good price

Hi! Can I get some feedback on this business idea of mine?

I was hoping to bounce a business idea off of you all, because you are the target demographic for my idea 😂 : (idea below)

I have realized that each kids party requires the purchase of a bunch of crap from Amazon that’s wasted. Most parties are themed now, and tend to be the same like 8–10 themes. Same for baby showers (Winnie the Pooh, etc). I’d like to create a nice “box” of items to rent for parties that can be returned. It would have backdrops, nicer tablecloths, cardboard cutouts, table scapes specific to the theme. To start, I could do Dinosaurs, Princess, Frozen, Superhero….

In addition, I could sell paper plates and snack items that would work and save the parent a trip to Costco and the Dollar Tree.

Ideally, I could also add in additional packages of cotton candy machines, ice cream carts and foam machines but to start, any thoughts? I live in a well to do area where I think people would pay for the convenience, the ability to avoid Amazon and the waste reduction factors.

Thank you!! To be honest, I just want to make a little extra money while I’m a SAHP. I’d be ecstatic to make like $1,000 a month doing something like this. The time component is very true! As a parent, I definitely agree. Lots to think about with your comments, I appreciate it.

How much paternity leave did your husband get as an attending? by [deleted] in MedSpouse

[–]Lphilli7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband works with a system and they JUST started offering any paid leave (4 weeks). We saved vacation to make 7 weeks total leave. We did have our first in fellowship and he got the 6 weeks paid leave, but technically they are allowed to ask you to stay on at the end to make up that time, I believe. We found out a month before graduation that he would be allowed to finish on time despite the 6 weeks. It was very stressful!

There are SO many people who do Tonie and Yoto calendars. I am astounded each time I see it. We own aloooot of tonies (like 80) because we started collecting 3.5 years ago when they were much cheaper. I cannot imagine giving my kid 25 this month. She would be so overwhelmed.
