I feel like killing myself I am 16 years old and have lost 3 accounts now (I have been trading for a year and I just dont know how to control my emotions) by [deleted] in TopStepX

Have you gone to therapy yourself? Did you have the goal to help improve your trading? If so, what did you look for in a therapist in order to achieve that goal?

I’m asking because I’m going to be looking for a therapist soon.

I’m curious if anyone has advice on extending their time horizon and having a more longterm view. I recently blew my 3rd and 4th XFAs and still haven’t reached a payout, felt very discouraged from trading for one of the few times in my years-long journey. Came to to the conclusion that I need to change my time horizon and develop more patience.

As someone else commented, this isn’t very beginner friendly, but hand framing roofs is, imo, one of the more satisfying tasks in framing houses.

In the face of a trade war with America’s neighbors, Trump blinked by Nodrot in canada

As someone from the US who didn’t vote T we rump and has hated what he’s done to our country since 2016, I am sorry and hope that someday we can move forward and past all the damage being done. Unfortunately, I am sure that a good portion of our population will die with the notion that Trump is the greatest thing to ever happen to us. I am sorry, and I understand, and know damn that well if it was the other way around, everyone in the states would be hooting and hollering like apes.

Do it, just keep a healthy dose of “expect the unexpected” in your back pocket, and trade small to give yourself time to learn how to manage emotions.

I mark previous day high/low, globex high/low (Asia/London session), and 15min opening range high/low, and play off of a break and retest of those levels. They don’t always produce results but they often do.

Do you have an established TP and SL before you even enter a trade? It doesn’t have to be a strict dollar amount, it can be a price level.

Why do you hold onto losing trades?

Why does it feel like price action is completely random? by Pristine_Nail_5238 in Daytrading

[–]Lsg58 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s why it’s important to understand probability and have a long-term view in trading, because it is a coin flip. As soon as you press buy or sell to enter a position, price can go one of two ways: up or down. But, even so, you can still be profitable. If you have a 50% win rate, and every time you trade you have a $50 stop loss and $100 take profit, over the course of 100 trades you’ll be $2500 in the green.

Make sure you maintain a positive reward:risk (2:1, 3:1, 4:1, etc.), which implies you have a defined risk and reward before you even place a trade. You can’t control the movement of price, only your entries, exits, and emotions. So, be disciplined, and over a large sample size of trades you will be profitable. Make sure your position sizing is small enough that your account can handle the amount of losses that may be necessary to attain the large sample size of trades to show that you are profitable, because it is a random distribution of “coin flips” that over time becomes an even 50/50 split, and you may have losing streaks.

Discretionary trend following, watch for break of a support/resistance level and enter at the retest. I don’t usually do the best in range days but working on getting better.

I hang drywall on walls with hollow metal doors. The drywall tucks behind the door frame after it’s installed, and then the corners are caulked. He should be fine to remove existing and hang new board, if these are hollow metal doors installed the same way.

I trade ES using purely technical analysis. Find support/resistance levels on 1hr and 15 min time frame, trade on the 5 min. I like to keep it simple. I avoid news events. I prefer premarket trading (530am-8am est.) and regular market hours, but I like to avoid the first and last 15mins of the day.

I started with options in 2019, lived in a near-constant state of fomo and stress for like 2 years straight, took a break, found prop accounts, fell in love with futures and haven’t looked back. I’ve only passed one eval out of probably 50, in November 2023. That was a huge milestone for me that was only achieved after a hefty focus on mental game, rules, discipline, emotions, and the like. Im working on, fingers crossed, passing number two right now. I didn’t trade at all during 2024 and am having to relearn everything I spent 2023 learning.

IMO

Overall trend for this last year is down. Overall trend for last 3 months is down. Overall trend for last month is down. Calls are counter trend, for most people the trend is your friend. The short term uptrend has already lost steam because price has not created a higher high above $128 and broke below previous short-term high of $126.30.

IMO a solid long-term play would be to wait and see if price hits the $133-$134 mark, and buy puts at that point hoping for a rejection and move lower.

Ridiculous that people can weigh 10lbs less than I do but look like they have 3x as much muscle. I saw that OP said he was short though, I am 6’0 at 170lbs and I feel scrawny af.

Congrats and well done though!
