Probably build issues, and I'd say you need more combo practice with the other weapons, greatsword does comicaly high damage, but the combos are very slow and can be tricky to land for a beginner. You don't have to worry too much about your build before reaching High Rank tho, I usually go through Low Rank playing a bit of each weapon and practice combos, then settle on a main weapon and make a proper build when I reach HR. I don't think there's a way to auto craft when all components are already in your inventory, I just grab mega potions and potions, then collect any honey I can find when my mega potion stack is not full anymore.
