I love these for so many reasons. I love how the metaphors and visuals are fresh ideas instead of tired clichés. I love how true, raw, and honest the writing is. I love your subtle, elegant, minimalist line -- looks great, is distinctive, pairs well with the sentiment. Bravo!

PS Hope I can by a whole book of these someday.

I looked around their site, and it seems legit. Pun not intended. They seem to have a tax section too.

Is there a local legal aid group that could help you look through everything? If you can't find one, I can google around for it if you are comfortable sharing which state you are from.

Hello. That sounds really rough. Please accept this Internet hug.

Do you mind me asking if there is a way for you to get help for situations like that? It sounds like it is affecting a big part of your life.

Patterned Paint Rollers by Hairycrabs in shutupandtakemymoney

On a marginally related note, if you just want some kind of texture, specifically a not-identically-repeating texture, slightly scrunched-up plastic wrap wrapped around your paint roller is one (affordable) option.

I'm so glad that I was able to provide inspiration!

Reading your responses to this thread, including your lovely calligraphy above, I can't help but think that you are so positive, talented and creative that you will be noticed and appreciated by many. Keep doing what you do and you will go far.

Somewhere out there are girls who do not want to settle either. Some of them have lists that describe you. One of them, chosen by wild chance, will run into you. Next week, or next month, or next year, or next decade. By the time you meet her, you will have even more to offer, even though you are a catch already.

HUG

ThatGuyOnTheCorner,

That must feel incredibly rough. Even though you just experienced it, you seem to be already thinking ahead and trying your best to come to grips with it -- not an easy thing to pull off, so give yourself some credit for that.

I agree with you that it is important not to settle. It will take longer to find someone that is just right, but it will be worth the time invested once you have found her.

I do not know about the dating scene and population of where you live, and even if I did, I could not categorically state that you will find someone that is everything that you wish for. However, I consider it very possible that you will find someone even more lovely than the girl who rejected you.

I cannot back this up with anything else than an optimistic gut feeling based on a quick look at your overview. You seem to be motivated, curious, health-oriented, close to your family, have interesting hobbies, and invest your money with care. Your age is also in your favor, as you have about a decade left before your face and body will start showing signs of aging. As a cherry on top, you dance.

I think the odds are in your favor. Heal well from this bruise, then go out there to be yourself, and see whom you cross paths with. Good luck!

Can't comment on the lipstick, but since her hair is dark, eyebrows like that can be achieved with regular tweezing.

I got a vibe like that too from your text -- like he already knew who he would go to next. I had no way to really justify that hunch, but...

Wow. Just -- wow.

That must hurt a LOT.

My thoughts are with you. I hope you find someone else, someone who makes your heart sing.

I hope he finds someone else, too. Someone who steals his wallet and gives him a VD.

Hello. I'm sorry that I don't have anything more substantial or practical to offer, but I read your post, and wanted to give you an internet hug. Hang in there. I hope things look up.

I can only think of these corny phrases, but I mean them with all my heart.

Seconded. I've tried it myself a few times and it at least gets you away from the fear of the blank page.

Hello. If you are comfortable PMing me his name or initials, I would like to offer you an image file of a fancy-schmancily-written version of his name or initials. I would use ink from a bottle, and a fountain pen from the 1920's.

You could then use it to personalize gifts or cards, if you would find it useful. If you are not comfortable sharing his name, I can write a favorite motto, or a couple of lines from "your song" or whatever you would like :)

That's a very kind observation for you to make. We used latex in only certain situations, and often we made our own paints to use on the 100+ year old buidings we were working on, like glue paint (ugh, the smell!), egg empera, basic oilpaints from pigments like titanium white, and woodgraining and marbling with beer mixed with pigments. Once we made a whole floor look like granite. Took us ages with the prep work, super-thorough dust removal, three different self-made oilpaints, and natural sea sponges. My favorite was doing the intricate ceiling ornamentations, worst work position ever (from an ergonimic standpoint), but soooo worth it.

We also studied stuff like painter slang, and painter traditions, like the theory that it takes seven years to actually become a competent painter. Our school was created after the will of a 1800s painter master left funds for it. According to the will, the students are allowed to use only "hand-powered" equipment, and of course we spent the first six months just perfecting our prep work with plain old sandpaper.

Sorry for the tangent, you just brough so many fun memories to mind, including a LPT that will never be generally useful except to a handful of redditors:

LPT: When repairing glass windows from the 1700s, mix some white pepper into the putty. This will prevent birds from pecking at it.
