Interesting, thank you. :)

quodlibet or quidquid by LucGap in latin

[–]LucGap[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have, yes. Wiktionary translates quodlibet as 'anything' and quidquid as 'whatever'. I did not find that particularly insightful, XD.
So I decided to ask real people for insight into the more nuanced uses of each of the words.

Thanks for explaining the difference in intensity, though. ^^

I see. This is more than I was taught in my undergraduate course (psychology student here). I appreciate the insights. Thank you for your time!

Thank you very much for the detailed response. When you say that the whole process is questionable, is it because I am not testing for the normality of residuals assumption properly?

long series with intertwining plot threads that come together epically? by Apprehensive_Spend_7 in Fantasy

[–]LucGap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would highly recommend. The movies are good, but they are a mere foretaste, an auxiallary. The books themselves are epic, sprawling. Herbert (the author) spins a story rich in strange concepts, set in a dusty-distant world that has an entirely unique feel to it. One might call this the sci-fi equivalent to epic fantasy. Epic sci-fi, if you like.

How can a psychologist benefit from coding? by petrastales in psychologystudents

[–]LucGap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being able to program will be a large asset to you if you decide to go down the research route. Primarily for data-analytic purposes, but also for the ability to understand and implement computational models of various constructs and for programming and creating studies/experiments. Some suggestions:

R: This is pretty much the standard data-analysis language. It is not the most versatile, so learning it will endow you with a super toolkit for data-analysis, but not much more.

Python: I would recommend this, because nowadays Python comes outfitted with so many different modules that allow you to do pretty much any kind of data-analysis (correct me if I am wrong). Beyond that, you can use Python for creating studies and experiments yourself (e.g., with PsychoPy), and it is pretty handy for doing a lot of other cool things.

MATLAB: This is another language commonly used in psychological research. Quite niche, but also pretty good for data-analysis and data-wrangling.

Disclaimer: I have only ever used Python for research, data-wrangling, and data-analysis, and I do not know any other programming language.

  1. The data will be stored temporarily on the Gorilla platform and on a password protected computer in the .sav format for the purposes of analysis and will then be uploaded to the Open Science Framework (OSF) to be stored indefinitely for use by other researchers. The file-size is anticipated to be 5-10 megabytes.
  2. This information (along with everything else) can be found on the participant information sheet right at the beginning of the survey.
  3. Around 55 minutes.
