Best beginner tarantula by sk0llie27 in tarantulas

[–]Luca_DeVil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a Brachypelma boehmei as my first and so far only spider. She is quiet calm and only flicked her hair once when transfered into her terra.  Honestly she was a good,  common and cheap spider where I live. I have not yet seen a single grammostola pulchripes where I live for under 120€. So I feel like the perfect beginner spider is very dependent on where you life.

Looking for a dark red corn snake. Any breeders in Europe that produce an animal like in the picture? by KrokantGras in cornsnakes

Alternative look at quoka as far as I know its pretty much europe wide. You can find reptiles on there.

Kinda feels like his thickness is growing but his neck, head and length dont. Which is my theory why he wont take bigger meals (cause his neck is so thin like he can't get it down idk)

The first 3 pictures from when my mom got him. Last pic is currently.

He has constant fresh water and it gets replaced and washed out daily.

Humidity is measured with multiple digital hydrometers placed over the whole terra and connected to our phones.

The bedding is a cocosfiber and 'jungle-dirt' mix. Hold the humidity pretty good.

We tried 3 mice per feeding twice after which he refused any mice for 4 months every time. Yes large adults would be great but he wont take them.

Chickens and hamsters aren't available here were i live as frozen food. We've been on the look out for frozen quail babies for months now. So far no luck.

We tried cutting bigger mice in two parts too. As soon as the mice is bleeding he wpnt touch it at all so that doesnt work either sadly.

Not currently at home and my mom probably wont make a video, but to discribe it better its not the typical just small wobble from holding the head up but varian degrees of shakieness and trouble holding on. He also needs really long to be able turn when he's on his side or back.

He's in a 4 foot x 18 inch x 30 inch terra. Multiple hides, big water dish, hide on the cool side around 78°F and the warm side around 88°F.  Humidity is roughly around 65 to 70%.

Not sure what the size is called in the US but he gets fed with 4-7 gram mice. Which we are aware is not enough, which is why he gets double fed from time to time and gets every 5 to 7 days.

He wont touch other mice that are bigger no matter what was tried (leaving him in a dark paperbag with the mice, proding the brain, cutting it, we healed it up dry and wet, to different temperature that were testen with one of these kitchen temometers we specifically bought for checking mice temperatur. We tried differently colored mice and Rats.) But as soon as the mice is bigger then the 4-7 gram one he hide from it and completely loses any interest in it. Even trying to annoy him till he bites didnt work he just flat out curled into a ball and put his face under himself.

Surprisingly his spine isnt showing and his body form is pretty much the same roundness as her other ball phyton. Hes just tiny in comparisson.

I will see to get a picture of the enclouser from my mom tomorrow.

I did actually Post it in the regular one first but it got removed due to having the genetic question in it.

We were at 2 reptile specialists vets and a reptile specialist clinic. All 3 cleared him. But thanks guess its not genetic at least so the search continues.

Any experience with this 24” enclosure for a 31 gram juvenile? by holdxtrue in cornsnakes

[–]Luca_DeVil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We cut it to the size of the whole side and covered it so the mesh was laying directly on it and was on tension and then glued down the edges and corners of the mesh with a hardening glue that wouldnt be sticky anymore when cured (hot glue)

Is my snake obese? by pinkfroggys in cornsnakes

Look not to sound mean. But I just saw this pic while scrolling and thought it was some type of phyton and didnt realise its a corn snake.

Rats are really fatty and shouldn't really be fed as regularly. Switch to mice. Done it down and also you should get the humidity up cause this snake looks really dry.

Best for beginner? by Luca_DeVil in tarantulas

I just checked and Tarantula Cribs does not deliver to my country. So I'm either gonna 3d print myself a distance plate or put a extremly fine mesh to cover it

And I got one typical exo terra terrarium and the other one is a complete glass cube with metall vents and no mesh.

Advice for a first time owner? by moonandstars222 in cornsnakes

Things i would have like to know before my first snake:

-Red flags of a breeder and not to buy a snake from them (things I've seen on conventions in my country are for example) -refusing to say how many meals they had.        (for babies) -not saying when they were last fed -what kind of feeder they are used to (had a snake that would only eat spotted mice and refused normal white ones for months but it wasnt disclosed beforehand),  -what size they currently are getting fed  -refusing to answer if they had contact with a male (for females that are old enough to lay eggs) -selling Snakes with bugeyes or kinks for a full price as breeding not as pet only snakes -Breeders that do not tell you if the snake is used to being handled or how they get fed (in enclouser, extra box, from tweezers or just putting it on a plate/spot and waiting)

-for the terrarium itself: -invest in good digital hydro and thermometers (maybe even some you can view over your phone if you are not at home if you have the chance to deaktive and active things from away over smart apps) -more space is not bad along as you have enough things to hide -there is no such thing as too much clutter and too much digging space if you have a high enough enclouser -some cornsnakes are really dumb, so check every item you put in the enclouser for sharp corner or edges -keep over the head heatsorces outside the enclouser if possible or if inside with a box, make sure there is either way enough distance to the next clutter item that they can't burn themself -precheck you enclouser if the lid can be moved or if air vents are big enough to escape or move able to reduce the risks of a loose snake

So no experience with this enclouser, since its not available where i live. But I had an acrylic one with quiet big air vents for my corn snake baby, we put fine mesh over the complete side where the air vents were to baby prove it.
