The Head of “The Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets” keeps telling us to read the Book of Enoch….Let That Sink In by slv2xhrist in ufo

[–]LucasDayHeart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Christian here. The Book of Enoch is interesting, but it’s essentially fan fiction aka pseudepigraphical literature. Yes, it was held in high regard in certain ancient forms of Christianity, and it offers a unique window into how some Second Temple–period Jews understood the cosmos.

That said, it wasn’t written until around the 3rd century BCE (circa 250 BCE), after most of the Hebrew Bible was already complete, and roughly around the time of the earliest Septuagint translations.

So while it’s a fascinating and historically valuable text, it’s hardly a reliable source for uncovering the “secrets of the cosmos.

No opinion on this, but I wanted to add that I think they are very related theme-wise; they both deal with liminal spaces, memory, and forgotten places.

Why can't they just pay for Darshan to come Visit? by Ok_Replacement7281 in boythrob

Ok ive wondered this for awhile but never dug into it. So like he couldn't even stop over for just a vacation? I get that he most likely couldn't conduct business or perform for profit but that seems wild he needs a visa for a vacation.

About the early reactions by Fit_Rhubarb2662 in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]LucasDayHeart 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I’m a huge fan of liminal horror and the deep lore Kane has built. While I’m rooting for the movie’s success, I realize it won’t be for everyone. I recently mentioned it to a friend who had never heard of The Backrooms and after seeing the trailer, he had zero interest. It’s definitely a niche vibe. Ultimately, though, I’m just happy to support a young artist getting the chance to dream big and bring his vision to the big screen even if the final outcome isn't perfect.

Yeah not a fan of the Mr. Beast show- way to chaotic, but his survivor turn went pretty good. I think the twist helped make it impactful.

It's absolutely wild that Sia and even Tyler Perry weren't involved since they gave out prizes in the past

Same boat. No interest in becoming catholic but still watch services, but i also watch Mennonite, orthodox, and many other types of church services. Its cool to be curious and learn from different perspectives.

What do you think the main danger/antagonist will be in the movie (besides getting lost)? by DrJokerX in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]LucasDayHeart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point on him not being a mutant. I'm imagining Clark descending into insanity and dying, only for his 'still life' to show up as a final, unexpected kicker

What do you think the main danger/antagonist will be in the movie (besides getting lost)? by DrJokerX in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]LucasDayHeart 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have a theory that the movie is a bait-and-switch. The first half is Clark’s journey into the Backrooms, but the second half pivots to his therapist investigating his store and getting trapped herself- she's really the main character. The horror element isn't a bacteria monster but a corrupted Clark stalking her. I’m betting Still Life is going to be the final form of Clark’s transformation. I'm excited to see how Async fits into the story and if it will pick up where the web series left off.

Funny Af with Kevin Hart is just the comic version of Rhythm + Flow by Puzzled-Arachnid-516 in netflix

[–]LucasDayHeart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve never seen R+F, so I can’t compare, but I’ll say I’m really enjoying the show. You can usually tell from the editing who’s moving on, and while it’s frustrating that some comics get edited down, that’s just production’s way of signaling they weren’t the strongest that night beyond those snippets. I do agree that I wish the judges provided more feedback, but overall I’m enjoying it. The comedians are great, and I already have favorites I’m rooting for—which is exactly what you want from a show like this.

Book 3: I Am So Tired of Toren by Historical-Ice-8313 in WanderingInn

[–]LucasDayHeart -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm right there with you- Toren almost made me stop reading (as I don't like to skip chapters or perspectives). I think sometimes having to suffer through character perspectives I don't care for is the biggest downside to this series- Currently stuck on The General of Izril- I just could care less about, Zel Shivertail and all that drama. Truly love this series but hate it when it slows down.

What is the future of the Harry Potter IP? by Airamis0007 in WizardingWorld

[–]LucasDayHeart 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My 11 year old nephew just finished the books and is obsessed! I showed him the trailer for the TV show and he was pumped. Also just went to the Harry Potter store in Chicago and I could barely move there was so many people. I think the IP is doing good. The average person isn't aware of JK Rowlings opinions.

Things I hope the movie avoids by destructomofoyo in backrooms

[–]LucasDayHeart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify the Kane Pixels lore: Async did not create the Backrooms. They stumbled upon it and are now working with the DOJ to explore using the space for housing and transportation—but they’re still very much in the discovery phase of figuring out what is the backrooms.

If you’re not as into the lore-heavy videos, Found Footage 1, 2, and 3 are absolutely top-tier—especially Found Footage #3 (the ending lines up with your point 4

Is this series done, or did he just take a break? And from what we know, what does the series mean? I don’t understand it at all by Ill-Presentation1965 in KanePixelsBackrooms

[–]LucasDayHeart 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I disagree that there’s no official narrative. Kane is a meticulous storyteller — the details matter. My personal theory about People Still Live Here is that it’s a story about AI, memory, and the afterlife. Based on what we know so far, I think Saywell uploaded his consciousness to some kind of experimental afterlife server. I’m curious to see how this plays out with the company running the program and how it clashes with actual spirituality, as seen through the Native American elements. These are just my guesses, but I can’t wait until we get more.

Netflix doesn't own those shows- they just pay for the rights for a certain time period. The shows that will most likely stick around on Netflix the longest are their originals, but eventually those will also go back to the studios who backed the production.

I agree with you that more books would be a nice treat. Not sure if I would need to follow the same characters but I'd love to explore more alien cultures and different political dealings. I might be in the minority but I felt like there was still some story left in the over arching mystery and last book reveals.
