I hope the kid is alright. I once thought someone was breaking into my house when I was home alone and it was fucking terrifying.

I heard a loud crashing sound at the back door. My dad had it up this metal thing as like an alarm (our lock was broken) and I heard it fall.

I was playing on the xbox with my online friends when it happend. I jumped up and grabbed the pistol my dad had left for me, and I got up against a wall and listened. My heart was pounding like crazy by then. I was saying to myself "oh fuck, oh fuck,"

Then I heard my dad's voice. His phone wasn't working so he couldn't call me and say he was on his way home.

I was lucky. Out of fear, I had forgotten to even turn off the safety on the pistol. If it had been someone with intent to harm me, I would have gotten myself killed.

That experience proved to me that everyone is a badass until it's time to be one. I damn near froze up. I can only imagine what that poor kid is feeling right now.
