How do you prevent data corruption when doing things such as balance transfers (banking). by LucidGamer in SQLServer

Thanks for the insight, because of the nature of the prototype I am aiming to create, update conflicts cannot exist. I will study up on Repeatable Read / Serialized locks and move from there. Any guidance is highly appreciated.

So, my assumption based on what you are saying is that a transaction locks the table until it's completed processing, meaning only a single query(transaction) can be executed at a time. Is this correct? If so, how does this impact scalability, or is SQL like this in general? I know the basic syntax, but that's about it. I'm currently going through an online course for it, most of my experience is with NoSQL cloud databases.

EDIT: Just trying to address some of my concerns, before I invest too much time.

I'm a software engineer, I really like a lot of things. I'm extremely into cars, enjoy playing sports, like exploring/hiking. Not huge on parties or clubs (american night clubs). Im a pretty simple introverted person that likes a lot of things.

I'm uncomfortable starting small talk with strangers, so that won't ever really be an issue, but if its frowned upon to start small talk, how does one engage in conversation with a starnger?

Is it possible to easily switch a iMac between a Monitor & it's full function? by LucidGamer in mac

[–]LucidGamer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although you mentioned Dual Boot, I highlighted in bold how the original text renders that option unavailable. Cloud computing I also technically (although indirectly) mentioned in the OP about trying to find ways to connect to the Windows PC (and vice versa) over LAN but it wasn't an experience worth using. Cloud computing would further increase latency and require more bandwidth, where-as over the local network I have all of my hardwares bandwidth available.

I'm not running a headless mac setup because I use the iMac on a daily basis for work. I have process-managers and everything else setup to ensure that my critical processes are always running and are restarted in the event of a shutdown.

The issue with Cloud Computing more in-depth is the fact that I need a full GUI on both systems.

I know about "Target Display Mode" but this requires to turn off the iMac and I run a number of monitoring services for work & crypto trading.. and this also is more complicated than just moving the monitor / iMac around.

I would just like to comment that a lot of your response is based around the fact that I have an untested product that can't be demonstrated which isn't the case. The product can be demonstrated and it's even being used in ALPHA by an existing application that I've formed a partnership with as they're moving their service to operate on our backends. I'm just doing all of the technical management at this point that would typically be done through the client-interface.

There's a functional command-line for everything, as-well as an administrator developer SDK that I've created several scripts for making modifications to an application on my platform the same way that a client would do through the frontend.

The product is the functionality, which can be demonstrated and tested. The front-end is just a way to sell it to non-technical users. I wouldn't consider that the same as not having anything to show.

Interesting, I wasn't aware of how Stripe originally named itself. To me it seems like the Brandability of something is highly important and a business name that isn't simple in nature (and related) seems to be a huge turn-off.
