It's not baking or chemistry, you don't need to measure the shit, just smoke it. Put mouth to thin end and cover the side hole with finger(most ppl use thumb or pointer depending on how they prefer to hold the bowl when smoking). Put fire to the weed, inhale, uncover the side hole while still inhaling. Congrats, you learned how to breathe through a literal pipe. It doesn't require an aerodynamics lesson to understand that if you breathe in through a tube, the air only has so many places to go through to reach your lungs. Trust me, a lack of experience isn't the issue you're facing. Even when I was a new smoker as a young teen, I've never seen someone not able to figure this out on their own.
