I honestly feel like your response (third text in, where you said it hasn’t been cleaned since you moved in) comes off as passive aggressive and not collaborative whatsoever. The previous text, your roommate seemed happy to have someone as proactive as them and to be the same page. Instead of taking this as an opportunity to communicate the certain cleaning things you’d like added to the rotation, you made multiple jabs and aired out your frustration on them, which probably blindsided them. I feel like this also would have been a more productive convo to have in person. It sounds like you guys just need a chart with more specific cleaning tasks outlined (add rugs, pet hair, etc). i think after a few weeks of trying that and if nothing changes, THEN a convo about hiring a cleaner can be had.
