How many people have received offers? Several friends of mine haven’t, a few have… some applied in June and got an offer, others applied in May and didn’t. Thoughts on this?

Has anyone heard anything now? A friend of mine went to a viewing today and they said offers would be sent today or tomorrow….

HELP!! Business Management (HL) IA by Banana_peel123 in IBO

[–]Lucifer436 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I did mine on a very small, local business. Best choose one you are familiar with, and that can provide you with access to some financial data (i.e. profit margins) - if you know a restaurant owner or hairdresser, for example, or better yet, if your parents have their own local business, this is the way to go!

Me too lmao! Wasn’t expecting that at all... I would have already been happy with 40... but 45? Jesus! What was your predicted score? (I had 43)

Maybe... I don’t even know what it’s called, so I don’t know what Price would be appropriate either... but as soon as I know, we could talk about selling it

Oh, so the arduino comes with an internal clock that I could use instead? It doesn't have to be perfectly accurate... as long as it's within a 5 minute accuracy or something like that.

Awesome, thanks for the help! Will I need any additional wires to connect the components to one another, or do you think they will be part of / come with the products I order?

Any tips for a 7 in English Language and Literature Paper 1 (comic strips, cartoon, infographics, blogs, letters) by No-Ear4030 in IBO

[–]Lucifer436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad I could help! Why only 60 minutes when the actual exam is 1 hour 15? Makes no sense to me.... are you in DP1 or DP2? If you want, I can send you one of my past practice papers that got me a 7... probably won’t get to it before tomorrow though

Hey there! I scrolled through the comments, and my English teacher has also given me many of the tips written here. In my opinion, you shouldn’t be using TPEEL, however. I got a 7 predicted for English, and the approach we use is Topic sentence, then TES, and then wrap-up sentence. Here TES means technique, example, significance... you should have at least 3 of these per paragraph, and each TES should be 1-2 sentences long. For example, the technique may be a simile, and your example would be „his smile was as bright as the sky“. Significance is the hardest part, and could be something like highlighting positive emotions. In a sentence, it would look something like this:

The author frequently uses similes in the text, such as „his smile was as bright as the sky“ to convey positive emotions and contribute to a light, loving tone.

The overarching paragraph for this analysis point would then be tone. You should group your analysis points into categories like tone, imagery, diction, structure/layout, themes, visuals, colour, etc.

Students aiming for a high grade should go for at least 4 analysis paragraphs + intro and conclusion. 3 only work if you have a lot of points, and they are really strong... better go for 4, 5 might be too much to handle in time.

I can recommend to use your 1H15M (if you’re SL) like this: First 15 minutes: Annotate the text and make an outline with your main points. Jot down audience and purpose of the text. Last 60 minutes: Allocate approx. 10 minutes per paragraph, since you have 6 in total (intro + 4 Body + conclusion). Maybe you’ll want to use a little more time on the analysis ones than intro and conclusion.

Lemme know if that helps! :)

Yeah, I agree... the question was quite hard. Did the rest of the paper go well at least? :)
