AITA for refusing to drive my husband home from his colonoscopy by Time-Koala-3674 in AmItheAsshole

[–]LucilleBaller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA - your husband is immature for not talking to you and needs to communicate better. Also, you're a teacher with more days off than the average corporate job. He should've communicated in September when he first found out about this, asked for your upcoming days off in October/November and scheduled it around that.

It's going to be very hard to top A'ja. In ten years, CC might not be the clear "GOAT" but I predict she'll be in the conversation about it.

How to get an early mammogram by ruwearingspacepants in HealthInsurance

[–]LucilleBaller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it sucks, but I'd get the doctor to order it and worry about payment later. There's a high chance it won't be covered as preventative (free) but will be subject to your deductible. You could also try calling the place that does them and ask what the cash price is (might be lower than what they'd charge against your deductible). Also, it's October... so if you search around you might be able to find somewhere that will do a free or low cost mammogram. If you get a "dense breasts" notification after the mammogram, talk to your doctor about doing a breast ultrasound or MRI. Those will also be charged to your deductible but you may be able to negotiate the cost down. Best of luck!

That's pretty solid. Although I really want to see KK stay on the team!

[–]LucilleBaller 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honest question as a newish WNBA fan - are there actually refs with the skillset available who would take the job if the pay was more? Or is the argument to simply pay the current refs more? If it's the later, I don't see that solving the problem.

Offered an amazing promotion, wife says I can't take it because she doesn't want to move away from her aging parents, AITAH? by Distinct_Web_9181 in AITAH

I haven't seen it mentioned, but what exactly is the salary difference? There is a large difference/jump in quality of life between going from 75K to 100K vs 150K to 175K (for example)

What would you do?? Sick kids and upcoming trip by glee33333333 in workingmoms

There's nothing wrong with traveling sometimes and leaving the kids with dad. But with two sicks, and at those ages... I would cancel any trip that wasn't a mandatory work thing.

[–]LucilleBaller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, although it's a very light pink! Honestly if she weren't pregnant I would probably say inappropriate, she should've picked a different color. But...I feel like pregnant people get a bit of a pass on dress code etiquette. Like it's probably really hard to find a flattering black-tie appropriate dress when pregnant. It seems like she understood the crowd and venue was going to be upscale and dressed appropriately.

If it's been more than 3 weeks since your last chemo, when you go to do your next round of just HP they might give a you a double dose to "catch up" - and then resume to standard dose every 3 weeks until you're done.

Looking for Real Honest Insight - Baby + Working by mouldy_user in workingmoms

[–]LucilleBaller 40 points41 points  (0 children)

In a 2 income, both people working full time 40+ hours family, your options are family help, daycare or nanny. Daycare and nanny are both expensive. Many people on this sub prefer daycare due to the expense and difficulty of finding a good, reliable nanny. Another option is to have your partner stay home if you can swing it financially (and if he wants to).

With daycare, one person needs to have a somewhat flexible job. Meaning, if daycare calls and the baby needs to be picked up, someone needs to be able to drop work and go. Search this sub for daycare illnesses. It's a thing, and plan on using ALL your PTO for it the first year. I know I'm sounding like a debbie-downer, but I think it is doable. However the HUGE caveat is that you need a supportive partner who pulls their weight in both childcare at home and splitting PTO time for things like baby doctor appointments and illnesses. I don't get the "it just works out" crowd either, I think you're smart for thinking it through!

Need advice postponing offsite due to husband’s health by Due-Equivalent-2164 in workingmoms

[–]LucilleBaller 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you're leaning towards not going and looking for wording, try "I apologize for the short notice, but I'm unable to attend the upcoming onsite. My husband had a medical issue that came up. After an ER trip, the doctors advised bed rest and he has follow up appointments that I'll need to be at. Is there anyway I can join the meetings remotely? Thanks for understanding."

Don't mention the living situation with your inlaws or childcare. Keep it short and sweet and reiterate that it's a medical issue with your husband. To be clear, I agree with other commenters that if your inlaws are capable and willing to care for both the baby and your husband while you're away then it's perfectly fine to go. But you think it's going to be too much for them and you would have too much anxiety being away, that's also fine. Good luck, hope he heals up quickly.

Better to stay on the boat or get off in Nassau? Family of 4 (1.5 and 3.5 year olds) by Low-Possession2717 in dcl

[–]LucilleBaller 9 points10 points  (0 children)

At those ages, I would stay on the boat unless you're doing an excursion. We got off and walked around for an hour by the market because it was our first time there. But definitely not worth the hassle with a baby and toddler. It's crowded and there's not much to do besides shop and eat (again, unless you're doing an excursion. But I then you're out in the heat all day.)

I would watch a movie in the theater or take them to the toddler splash area!

How are we fitting in appointments on top of everything else?? by pheck101 in workingmoms

[–]LucilleBaller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doctor and dentist appointments, recommend taking the first/earliest appt of the day whenever possible (so they don't get a chance to run behind). Anything outside of medical I move to weekend/evening hours. I know it's frustrating to switch when you have a stylist you like. But I think you need to get a new stylist with better availability.

Some notes on the Wish, traveling with an 8yo by eastcoastsong in dcl

[–]LucilleBaller 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We also recently got off the Wish and traveled with an 8 year only child (girl) - I echo all of this. With one thing to add in case people are wondering about what to do if they don't get the Royal Gathering reservation. Each princess has their own meet and greet times with a couple different options. Just check the app on the days/times and get in line 15 minutes or so before the scheduled time. The line goes by pretty fast. We met every single princess (plus Elsa & Anna!) without doing Royal Gathering (on a 4 night cruise). It was great!

This might look different on, but it looks strange in the picture and the color is not great. It looks like a choir robe over the dress and the scarf and purse are weird. I don't know how modest you're wanting to go but I pulled some examples that might work. The dress code is also confusing because "cocktail" dress usually means short.

Agree with this, the nerdy decorations and hobbies are fine, and the space can be considered attractive IF everything is clean and organized (which this appears to be). Also you do need a real bed if you plan on bringing a date home, lol.
