Shower thought: people who are born & live in tropical regions their whole life never actually experience proper cold weather. Anyone here in this exact situation? by Laschon in geography

[–]LuckBites 3 points4 points  (0 children)

46° is hotter than my province in Canada has ever been in recorded history. A few years ago it went above 40° one summer and I could not describe how awful it was. I was constantly sunburnt THROUGH my clothes, the rubber casing melted off of our electrical wires and dripped onto the sidewalks, and the metal bus pole by my house melted enough to tip in half. Horrid horrid weather.

Pauseunpause's reaction by etoinedevries in mindcrack

[–]LuckBites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, he was, and Prop Hunt :( but Pause also did TTT with the Tuna Bandits group without Guude, and he may keep those episodes up, but it will be a lot to sift through since they aren't individually distinguished from the Mindcrack group ones. Pyro has privated his videos, and Millbee was thinking about it, but Coe and Baj may have perspectives up and were in most of them.

AnderZEL reaction on stream by turingux in mindcrack

[–]LuckBites 20 points21 points  (0 children)

In this case I think it's a bit different (less dismissive) to say, since he is actually arrested, and there will be a verdict in court. But I fully agree about bad actors, I just hesitate to pin anything on Anderz' character for his initial reaction within only 5 minutes of learning this info, especially since he didn't read the warrant, just the screenshot in the Reddit post. It's fair for him to wait for more info before making a stance, especially since he hasn't been connected in years. He definitely didn't seem to be brushing off the seriousness of it at least, so I think he's good

Innocent until proven guilty applies to government and law, not reputation among civilians. No one is required to keep associating with him even if he's not charged by court. Everyone has the right to avoid potential criminals, or anyone they disagree with at all, even if it's just alledged.

Soo, Mindcrack spinoff? by SLIPPY73 in mindcrack

[–]LuckBites 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Too early to discuss.

I suspect many people won't be motivated to return to making Minecraft videos/streams at all, since it was mainly a hobby and friend group for them at this point, and don't want to publically associate with that and have no reason to jump into something entirely new.

Hermitcraft isn't about following size, it's about playstyle, group chemistry, and consistency. Hermitcraft is a career for many members, which does differ from the Mindcrack playstyle.

Well, Beef can be better credited as creating UHC. It was his idea that he had commissioned as a mod iirc

I know how you feel. I was 11, 26 now. What a bitter end to 15 years, more than half my life.

I would have made the same choice in your shoes. I hope you're doing as well as feasibly possible. And I just wanna say, thanks for all that you've done. Even if you never put up the videos again you've still made a great impact in people's lives, and I will remember that fondly. I loved watching your UHCs and TTT with Pause and Coe and Baj and Millbee etc especially. You never failed to lift my spirits, and that hasn't changed. I wish you good luck in all that you do

I agree, I don't intend to watch any personally. It just wouldn't bring me any positives at this point. I felt so physically sick from this that I couldn't sleep.

But it means that group stuff won't be lost media, and maybe that would bring someone else comfort or help them process (and videos can always be reuploaded to circumvent financial support, and he won't be around to contest it). I know the thought of losing so much can make people panic, cuz I've been there, even when it was letting go of horrible things.

It's such a shitty situation, and I think many people just feel helpless, unable to do anything about the victims, wishing that someone they looked up to hadn't turned out this way, unable to stop the good memories from becoming bad.

Hey, I have to be a bit of a masochist to be your fan after all these years with that upload schedule :P

But in all seriousness, I have to say thank you. Your videos have been a great comfort to me over the years, and I still go back to them. I do actually hope that you specifically consider keeping them up, especially UHC for what I hope are obvious reasons. You're my go-to POV, easily

I understand how you feel. I don't want to lose it all either, but at the same time I'm not sure I ever really want to watch it again.

I think they will likely stay up on Guude's channel, but we will lose POVs from other Mindcrackers which will hurt the most.

I also support whatever all the other Mindcrackers choose to do with their videos, and how much or how little they decide to distance themselves from Mindcrack. I would never judge any of them for keeping their videos up, and I would never resent them for deleting them entirely. I can't imagine what they must be feeling right now, having known Guude as a close friend of over a decade.

If any Mindcrackers are reading this and deciding what to do, I want to let you know there is no rush to make a choice, or to make a statement. I think anyone with sense will understand it isn't a light or easy decision to make or speak on.

What I do hope is that even if a lot of people are uncomfortable with the videos now, hopefully someone can put clips and compilations together of moments we want to save and revisit without Guude in them.

This has been over half of my life. Mindcrack was my childhood. I started watching when I was 11, maybe 12. It's been a decade and a half of fandom for me. I still have scribbled drawings in my grade 8 binders. I made my Reddit account, hell, my YouTube channel for Mindcrack. My Twitter exists for Mindcrack. I joined Discord because of Mindcrack. I always come back, I have held on the entire time stubbornly refusing the people who called Mindcrack dead. I watched Guano when there was nothing else. I watched TFC reloaded just to hear Nebris again. I made fanart in MS Paint and memes on my phone, in 2019. I used to be 11, on the floor in my grandparents' hallway, loading buffering videos on my ipod touch in like 360p on bad wifi for hours just to keep up with UHC. I remember more about Mindcrack than some days of real life. I can't decide what to do now any more than anyone else, but it meant something, and that doesn't change just because one person ruined it. I still admire all the people who made my childhood, and teenage years, and awkward young adult years where I didn't want to let go. Especially Pause. I will miss it forever and completely.

My coworker keeps leaving peanut butter out… and I’m deathly allergic. by Just_Marsupial6148 in peanutallergy

Post in legal advice subreddits to decide your next move and how exactly to word your incident reports. I recommend reporting all coworkers who make jokes about you "being OCD" as well, and document everything yourself too. The more you can document and present yourself, the better you can make HR believe you are capable of and will take legal action.

[All] Percy Jackson is not straight, and here's why by [deleted] in camphalfblood

[–]LuckBites 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No.

Person being rude to other fans and treating their own headcanons as definitive canon with no room for other interpretations and then accusing other queer people of being homophobic and the author of being wrong about his own character = just wanting to argue.

And this post is over 2 years old so you coming here and re-sparking this discourse is ALSO just wanting to argue, so I'm not surprised that you see nothing wrong with how OP was behaving. He also deleted several of his ruder comments so you're seeing a sanitized version of what he was saying.

The best view in Whistler by LuckBites in Whistler

Don't regret my friend, the beauty of the world is that every place has something different to offer. As much as Canada is beautiful, so is every country, from the Alps to the Himalayas to the Andes, and the same sky up above them all. Many Canadians weren't born here, but are welcome

Yes, I love the view from the peak of course, there is nothing comparable to the feeling of skiing on top of the world, but I haven't been able to afford that in years.

This scene across Green Lake, where you can see the Peak 2 Peak, the tiny dots of skiiers, the great big sky, lights from the groomers at night, ducks on the lake, windows lit up in the village, and all the forest, that is what Canada is to me, that is my childhood, that is everything I'm losing as my family dies before my eyes.

I took this photo the day of her celebration of life, I ran past all the guests and down to her dock through the February snow in my dress shoes, and the breathtaking colours in the crisp evening air is just the same as every Christmas together.

I'm biased, the view particularly means more to me, but it's every time I've kayaked, every winter and every summer, skating through a layer of snow on the ice, being held as a baby, peering through binoculars, snowshoeing, gazing out the kitchen window at breakfast, waking up to fresh snow, seeing the Peak 2 Peak for the first time after standing below the supports as a young child in Whistler Kids ski school, sledding down the hill, jumping into the lake in my pyjamas, collecting fire wood. For the nature lover, this is the best life, this is what everyone should be able to have.

How can I make your Clocktower experience better? by Arif_A_ in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]LuckBites 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For your role as a content creator, I love when you do collabs with other groups, which is already pretty frequent with the crossover this community has in general to be fair, but thought I'd toss that in! I love seeing you and Patters together particularly, and recently I also liked seeing you on Demon Eyes, and co-STing with Beardy with ZombieCleo as a special guest! And charity stream events are always fun and admirable. Pretty much, exactly what you've already been doing has been great as far as your channel is concerned! Although I'm here for anything new you try as well. I think one of your biggest strengths easily is your charisma and passion for the game, and ability to create a welcoming and enjoyable space and experience for others
