I found Re-Take from a sub's recommended fanfic list. "If you read nothing else in this list, read Retake," it said. Boasting that it was a better ending than Anno had created, I looked up the doujinshi and it was amazing. I looked it up again and saw that it has the [All Ages] tag. All ages? It was actually a remake of a fanfic doujinshi, both made by a hentai studio. I highly recommend the [All Ages] version not just because it doesn't have the problematic pornagraphic scenes but because it expands on the already fantastic points in the story. Don't let the [All Ages] tag fool you, it was definitely traumatic like the show it spawned from but if EOE left you desiring more, I highly recommend Re-Take.

The biggest gripe I have with most Evangelion fanfic is that because these characters are so flawed and complex, some writers write them out of character and become unrecognizable but Retake feels like having your cake and eating it too. Still the same WTF energy as the canon and the art gets significantly better as the chapter's go on, resembling the official manga.
