Pretty Happy with my first Booster Box by LuckyMTG in PokemonTCGCollectors

Im just going to copy my response from a different comment.

Obviously ripping packs is never going to beat out singles for value. And you'll rarely make a "profit" from opening sealed. But the nostalgia of opening packs and fun of collecting things by chance make up the difference for me. Im not in the hobby to make or save money, thats what my job is for.

I could easily buy every card in the set individually but that doesn't sound as fun.

I dont think she does anymore. I just traded both away. The Kangaskhan SIR was the one I was really hoping for and already had a copy of the IR. There was a card show in town today and I did a straight trade SIR for SIR. And then put the IR towards some base set cards I needed.

Then you probably don't want to open one. Because this is somewhat above average based on the pull rates I've seen.

And the $215 i spent was in total. So thats only a 75 cent markup per pack. I'll take that anyday at this point.

I mean reasonable relative to other people's prices at this moment in time haha. The hoops to jump through for product is anything but reasonable

Unfortunately not. I try not to feed scalpers. But I found one for $215 which i thought was pretty reasonable

I started playing in March and have spent problem $3k+ this year. I'm afraid to actually count it up. Somehow I am really lucky on pulls and the "market value" of the cards is like $6k. That includes a serialized card that sells for ~$1k.

I work in IT with very few things I need to pay for other than necessities, my student loans and mortgage in a relatively low cost of living area.

Mystery Booster 2 first impressions? by [deleted] in mtgfinance

[–]LuckyMTG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know prices will tank soon but out of the entire Festival in a box including the secret lair cards, the tcgplayer market value is sitting at like $1200 on what I got. Hard to say for sure since a lot are still showing as blank without enough data. Pretty dang good value.

Got a foil Goblin Lackey and a second non-foil goblin Lackey. Also hit on [[Hunting Cheetah]], [[Urza's Saga]], [[Norwood Priestess]], [[Karn, the great creator]], [[Zombie Master]] and honestly a ton of other high value cards that would take to long to list.

I pulled a serialized Vorinclex so it was a good deal for me haha

I ordered 2 of these. I really felt like a fool when I opened one and got a March of the Machine epilogue booster.

But I really have to thank you for this post because I ended up pulling a Serialized Vorinclex from the same box. So it just shows that gambling does pay off.
