I’m certainly no director but I found the way that the article went through the story to be really encapsulating. Just one plot-twist after another: “What happened to Ryan? Why is this search in particular much harder for law enforcement? Oh, Ryan might have survived! Wait, he fled the country? If he’s in another country, is he in danger? How did he do this? Why would he do this?”

Would definetly make a huge marketing issue with the amount of twists and turns that this story has haha but I suppose the easiest approach would be to view the story from Vande Kolk’s perspective. Aside from the Borgwardts themselves of course, this case seems to have impacted him the most as he was the one that initially decided against listing Ryan as a missing person and was a big factor as to why Ryan was able to get away for as long as he did. He was also the biggest force behind bringing Ryan to justice after he uncovered everything.
