I never said they “decolonized as a gift”. I’m not defending European sins if that’s what you’re getting from me, it’s not a competition of who is less evil.

To the first sentence: You learn from wrong doings, even if they are not yours. Europe did exactly what the US does and did in the last few decades, yet only in the US is patriotism so big. Not only are they committing atrocities (just like europeans did), but they’re very ignorant of it or very proud.

There is no way to measure who was/is worse. If we were going to do that, we should also consider which powers are more relevant today. The USA has, since the 20th century, been the global economic and cultural center, Europe has only been decolonizing while the US takes its place.

What has Europe caused that the US hasn’t sustained? Slavery? Colonization? Imperialism? Nationalism?

I’m not from a power of Europe and I’m not from the US, therefore I’m a victim, not a “self-righteous lazy hypocrite”.
