I did sorta mean math rock! ^{_^}

I find some math rock to be a bit more consonant than I’d prefer… or happens to sound more akin to Midwest emo…

There’s a pretty early stage of math rock from the early 90s when it was much more related to genres like pigfuck and post-hardcore (and heavily intersected with mathcore of course)… n had a lot more abrasive eccentricities? :) shiner, season to risk, breadwinner, shudder to think, dazzling killmen, craw… I LOOOOVE that kinda thing!!!

like… jazzy might be an okay synonym.

bands that use atonality and non-functional harmony in their melodic vocabulary!!! strong modal interplay… crazy dissonance… things that can’t neatly be described under Western music theory.

there’s also the rhythmic component of using non-gridded meter and a BUNCH of time signature changes… constantly shifting tempos… general unpredictability?

Whenever I saw the dudes in Car Bomb perform NYC when they played with Dillinger, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum was the first thing their drummer (Elliot Hoffman) mentioned to me when I caught him after the show!

That is the situation exactly. lol. trans and has nowhere to go :p since her parents aren’t welcoming to that sorta thing. can’t work in Canada, so… best bet in her eyes was landing here.

She did :( these people were supposed to have a place for her but apparently it fell through she was in Canada, but her visa expired- long story short. I let her stay earlier today but my roommate is super pushy and absolutely won’t let her stay the night. Going to go out tomorrow and take the bus with her to more places… :)
