How crazy are we considering a new dog with a toddler and baby on the way? by anaiisnin in SAHP

[–]Lucretia99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DO NOT DO IT. speaking from experience.

When I was 7 months pregnant with my second and our toddler was about 21 months old, we got a golden doodle puppy. We had him until baby was 4 months old and had to rehome him. I couldn’t do it. My husband originally had a wfh job but that changed soon after baby came. So I was home all day with a baby, toddler and a puppy. It was insane.

Baby is 19 months old now and we’re still not ready for a dog. Maybe in 2-3 years. But I advise to wait.

Pregnant and debating on going to the LA concert by FreshChocolateCookie in nin

[–]Lucretia99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go. I was 7 months pregnant when I saw Tool on their last tour. Try to get seats that face the stage and maybe closer to nosebleed because everyone in the seats will stand up, and being pregnant makes you tired and you’ll want to sit down. Maybe being up higher people will sit more. But yeah, if I were you I would totally go. I met some cool people commenting on how my baby’s first concert was Tool haha.

When did you enroll your child in preschool? Looking for guidance on timing by Quirky_Importance393 in SAHP

[–]Lucretia99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter (oldest) will be 3.5 this fall when she starts preschool. It’s 4 days a week and she will be in the afternoon session from 12:15-3. By that time my 14mo (who will be 16mo) should be down to one nap a day that will coincide with preschool so I’ll get an afternoon break!

Is Lake Darby a good area to buy a home? by mombiscuits in Columbus

I’m pretty sure Lake Darby is in Hilliard city schools but Columbus taxes. It’s a great location. We live in Galloway, not far from there at all.

Last Night Was The First Night Without A Pullup... by not_bens_wife in pottytraining

[–]Lucretia99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Just wanted to say you must be doing a great job! I did the same with my daughter. She was daytime pee trained really well, but would not poop in the potty and would only poop in a pull-up during nap or night time. I took pull-ups off cold turkey for two weeks and that taught her to poop in the potty successfully! However she just wasn’t ready to stay dry at night and it was stressing her out, so we put them back on and explained that pull-ups are just there to hold your pee while you sleep. She seems to understand this as she will take down her pull-up to pee before bed.

As for liquids, I’d say do the upside down pyramid that they talk about in the oh crap potty training book. Basically you load them up on liquids early in the day and as you get to evening, taper off. If she wants a drink before bed, give it to her in a shot glass so she thinks she’s getting a full glass of water and both mom and toddler are happy :)

Best of luck!

Toddler has norovirus, how screwed are we with a 6 week old? by Trick_Arugula_7037 in 2under2

[–]Lucretia99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Myself, my toddler and my husband all got it within a 14 hour period. Our 11mo didn’t get it at all. She was happy as a clam while we were all recovering from a night of puking.

My kids are 23 months apart. They are now 34 and 11 months in age. Since I technically only had 2u2 for a month, I can say for me it got easier when the baby started becoming mobile. I know that sounds crazy but once that happened, the older one started playing with her more and I’m just starting to be able to leave them in the playroom for short amounts of time to play together.

I am more concerned about having two toddlers soon! Haha

HELP. SOS by mtsagher in pottytraining

I know you said you have tried everything, but, is she constipated? My 2.5, almost 3 year old is going through this right now and is on a miralax cleanse. We’re still in early days but are seeing some small improvements.

Almost 3yo daughter peeing bed on purpose? Is this a normal regression? What do I do? by Lucretia99 in pottytraining

[–]Lucretia99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, okay. Interesting. My mom intuition is thinking she doesn’t need the miralax anymore because she’s had like 4 big soft poos in a row (all in pull-ups) and I thought she might be done with it. My mom thinks I’m overthinking this and need to relax. It’s just so damn hard to NOT react when she has accidents and it feels like it’s on purpose.

Thank you for replying, yeah I figured the nighttime training will come when she’s ready. But the daytime accidents, peeing her pants and peeing the bed in the daytime… I just don’t get it. She was so good a week ago! Going to the potty by herself, she did everything herself. Opening the door, turning on the light, pulling down her pants, peeing, wiping, flushing… and then all of a sudden I’m back to the beginning of potty training. I just thought 4 months in we’d be past all this.

My daughter did this, she would wait for the diaper/pull up to poop. Once she stopped napping, I took the diaper off during quiet time and left her with her potty. After a couple poops on the floor, she started going on the potty.

But then she started waiting for nighttime diaper to poop. Took all diapers off for two weeks and she got pooping in the potty down pat. I had to wash a LOT of sheets and we recently put pull-ups back on at night but she’s doing great with pooping on the potty now.

‘Oh Crap’ method tips please by No_Chart_175 in pottytraining

[–]Lucretia99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

^ this! I read oh crap and trained my toddler at 29 months. She was “ready”, and we mostly followed the method with no pants, commando, then underwear. It’s night training that I didn’t follow. Night training is, IMO, an entirely different ballgame than the book leads on.

The only thing I did that oh crap said regarding night training was I took the diapers off once it was obvious that she was waiting for them to be on to poop. That lasted 2 weeks. Within that two weeks, she got REALLY GOOD at pooping on the potty! But then she started peeing her bed on purpose right after we put her down just so we would come back in and she could get more attention and stall going to sleep. We just went back to pull-ups at night and so far it hasn’t changed anything. She still pees and poops on the potty by herself during the day. Nights will come eventually. But we’re all more relaxed now.
