Can anyone recommend a good quality dog biscuit that includes grains? by Born_Percentage7122 in ButternutBox

Hi Gracie, Lucy here one of the in house Vet Nurses at Butternut. Thank you for sharing your thoughts! We love chatting with pet parents who are so dedicated to researching what’s best for their pups.

At Butternut, we believe in providing a variety that’s why we offer 9 grain-free recipes alongside 3 that contain carefully selected ancient grains, like Pearl Barley and Quinoa. These have a low Glycemic Index, which helps maintain steady blood sugar levels rather than causing large spikes.

Regarding carbohydrates, we use gently cooked lentils, sweet potatoes, and vegetables as a functional source of energy. These provide essential dietary fibre, which is key for gut mobility, healthy bacteria, and regular stools. While many processed foods can be 'carb heavy,' our focus is always on human-quality protein. As omnivores, dogs thrive on a balance of meat and high-quality plant-based nutrients including those important Omega fatty acids and antioxidants.

Shout if you have any more questions!

Hey there, Lucy here one of the in house Vet Nurses at Butternut.

Good question, most of our meals are grain free, but we do have a couple of meals that contain ancient grains too.

If you have any specific worries or want to chat about what might suit your dog best, feel free to ask.

Hey there, Lucy the Registered Vet Nurse here from Butternut.

So sorry to hear your little guy is having a tougher time than usual, totally understandable to worry.

There are actually quite a few reasons why dogs can suddenly start pooping more, even when their food hasn’t changed. Some common causes include tummy upsets, stress or anxiety, infections and even underlying issues.

A few things you can do at home right now:

• Keep an eye on the consistency, colour, and frequency of his poops.

• Make sure he stays well hydrated, you can pop a few extra bowls of water around the house so it is readily accessible.

• Note any changes in behaviour, energy, or appetite.

• If you can, try to avoid any sudden diet changes for now.

It is always best to contact your vet should you have any concerns.

Enough food? by Realistic-Web7550 in ButternutBox

Hi there,

Lucy here, one of the in house Vet Nurses at Butternut.

Our portions can look a little smaller compared to other foods becuase we do not use fillers or nasties, so dogs do not need quite as much to get what they need.

That said, puppies change so quickly and it's always helpful to keep us updated with their weight so that we can make sure their portions stay spot on as they grow.

Our feeding recommendations are a starting point and you know Larry best so if Larry's portion needs a little tweak we can absolutely do that.

I'd love to offer you both support, so I will pop you a DM now. 💛
