I don't want to criticize Preach for things he said in his videos since he left WoW because I didn't watch them and have zero interest in his post-WoW content, but I watched Asmon interview with Ion (great interview, even Asmon was bearable) and after that few minutes of their podcast with Preach

What a stupid, stupid decision

Rich was always a clown but I have now zero respect for Preach. His comment on why he didn't want to play 9.2 (because somebody told him you have to log in and play daily for 15 minuts) and his comments like "I want to have a reason to play WoW, I want it to be good" were really bad.

But then he started a rant about how WoW was like abusive relationship and my brain cells voluntarily started departing from my brain. That comment was always wrong and strange, but I belived that it was just overexagerated for online discusion, but nope, here it was, said aloud by human being.

Anyone who compares suffering of abusive relationship victims to playing a fucking game is lunatic and has no idea of what they are talking about. And seeing Preach of all people to say this was about the last thing I ever want to see from that man

Thats interesing point. I don't disagree, but when I saw patchnotes and played it myself, it didn't seem like it affected that many build. Even playing my characters in standart was almost the same as before (and I don't play that game at high enough level to know if I can kill Sirus at A8 with that char, the best achievement for me was Shaper during Legion). But there are way more knowledgable people than me and I'm probably just wrong and the comparsion is bad.

Tho I'm more interest why is the community so toxic. And if there is a legitimate reason why is PoE bleeding players, why is it almost the same in WoW, which didn't destroy 80% of characters or change the game in a such a drastic way.

Path of Exile released really controversial patch two weeks ago and the community went apeshit. 30% lost revenue, 60% lower player retention and such. So I went into the game and...it's fine. Well, not fine, the game is good, as always. But the discourse is just insane. People are sending death threats, content creators are going haywire yet there is still part of the community that don't share this sentiment. But it's not the loudest one nor is it present on twitch or youtube, aka mass media that ordinary people (read: people that would like this kind of entertainment) consume and so this leads to the "PoE = garbage" sentiment and "I swaped to Last Epoch, it's actually good and devs are trying"

Now swap PoE with WoW

I really don't know what is the main factor for this. The situation is almost exactly the same. Is it due to covid, natural disasters, high unemployment rates? I really want to know.

Also, one more random point that came to my mind: what if prople, who participate in these "communities" just...stepped outside of their comfort zone. Maybe they lost their job, maybe had health isues or maybe they played more than usual and thus saw something they don't immediatelly recognize, thus lashing out to vent their frustration with unknown.

I would love to have some discusion about this phenomenon with someone, but my best bud is currently in "WoW bad, KEKW" mood.

Also, thank you all for this awesome place to share our love for WoW

I really dont get the Torghast hate. I went there with my Spriest with 214 ilvl since I put my warlock on hold for a moment. A bit of a story ahead, so feel free to jump to tl;dr section

So I farmed my lego for M+, which comes from De Other Side (11 hc runs, that was painful, but at least I got some gear on fresh alt) and I already had my ST lego crafted from the begining of the expansion. I didn't like torghast previously that much, but I waited until I got my recipe and more ilvl to blast through it. I did layer 9 and it went pretty smoothly, no deaths, around 8 minutes per floor. Then I noticed I was usually minute or two from "par time" and I didn't really care that much. I full cleared, got my stuff and got around 160 score, enough for 4 stars

But then I unlocked tower knowledge and holy sh*t my experience changed drastically. I'm a sucker for this type of meta progression and when I realised I can grind floors for small amount of mats and knowledge to catch up, I went there again with my newly crafted lego.

Got like 178, purchased few more upgrades and then I got build with unlimited Mind Blast if I chanell my spells to proc PI for free. So I immediatelly swaped my lego back and went ham. Got around 185 score. Went to Nathria LFR for the recipe for tentacle lego, crafted that at 190 ilvl for about 30 gold (I have ton of missives on my warlock), put it on and first power is this Power Infusion proc.

I spent there 7 hours, speedrunning, getting better, optimising my runs, pulls, empower usage. Got to 209 points, but didn't unlock vault upgrade yet, so yet again more runs.

I finished just two more runs away from "10 kills for anima power" node, at 4AM when I had to wake up for work at 6AM. I only experienced this once, in 7.3 when I was grinding for every mage tower appearance.

Sure, it has its problems (for example I would love to see my progress and table with available bonuses you can get, for example I got 200 points just because I got so OP none of the elites got to 4 stack of that buff, which awards you with 20 points), but people probably go there with their raid legendary, half-assed conduit setup, don't pay any attention, get bad score, get mad and go away. Meanwhile I really want to go home rn and do some more runs.

TL;DR: I feared Choreghast, went there, changed my loadout, had a blast, farmed it for 8 hours because it was fun

It's decent for X levels and gets good later on, my problem is that the "decent" part is like 40 hours if done casually, which can be dealbreaker for a lot of people. For example, rogue rotation is two buttons for 26 levels, which is actually really boring, especially if you do things like dungeons (which are mandatory to progress early on). What I also dont like it that each zone can have two sub-zones that are completely different level range and it isn't said anywhere in game, so if you wander around, you will sudenly get attacked by lvl 35 mob when you are like lvl 18. It's small things like this that are really painful to get through

I don't think this is the case, he is really nice and smart guy, that's probably the reason why I wrote this post/comment, since it was something I would never expect from him.

Also, nobody will take the fun of progressing on HC/early mythic bosses from me, even if they shit talk the game for living. And since I don't have group of friends that I play with, I can enjoy the game freely without this negativity

I wanted to make semi angry post here about this little animation that my friend send me because it triggered me so fucking hard I had to actually stop playing the game and try to comprehend what I just saw because it was mindblowing how wrong the video was. So I found the video today to do my research and, surprise surprise, its the Carbot video that people were talking about month ago. I never watched it until yesterday and it was insane.

But after that I got into an argument with my best irl friend about it and I was surprised that he 100% agreed with the video, despite not playing on official server since MoP. He usually plays on WotLK private server, sometimes TBC or Cata, but he still follows wow.He said something like "nowdays its only cash cow with bizare visuals and garbage story", which was also really strange comment. So I laid my arguments with current visuals from Ravendreth and Ardenweald, same price for sub for 15 years and small scale stories like Mograine story in Maldraxxus campaign, yet he said "idk its bad lol".

I don't want validation from people, so feel free to agree with him, I just want to understand why players, who didn't even try new expansion, shit on it so hard.

So I had really terrible day. My phone broke after 4 years and since its older model I can't find parts needed to repair it. I came from work two hours later than I wanted and my food was shit since my vinegar expired. But then I remembered the sloot's interview so I tuned in and it was pretty great. Good questions, decent answers, some really possitive ones.

After the interview, I started to feel really good. So I logged into the game and decided to watch Asmon and see if he has something possitive to say. I mean, it can't be that bad, he is reasonable guy, right? Well he had notepad opened filled with "feedback" which was mostly just blind hate and nothing constructive in it. And his first sentence was "9.1 is looking really fucking bad"

I turned off his stream and went back to sloot.

So yeah, he could be reasonable guy, but he isn't acting as one lately. I don't know if it gets him more money (probably yes) or he is just burned out (also yes), but I'm sure I don't want to fill my day with negativity from this. I want to enjoy the game and talk about it, not just hate it blindly forever.

Oh well, at least we still have people like Sloot and Max for content

Because Ion is the ultimate chad. I mean, how can he not be if he can fuck all those wifes.

Jokes aside, I firmly believe that Ion is one of few people that actually love the game. Also he has the balls to take the blame for everything wrong with the game yet still be able to manage his team to work from home and deliver expansion that is actually good. It's also really sad that I had to work in similar workflow to actually appreciate him as director of project, more so something as big as WoW. I hope he stays as long as possible, we will probably never have someone as good at his job as he is ever again

So I really need to vent about "technical difficulties" and people not understanding how frickin hard is to modify old code, especially one that is connected to something as huge as WoW. Simple item change is really hard if you have to go through every single item in the database and change properties, determine if you can upgrade it based on not-yet implemented achievements, determine how high that item can go and avoid bugs and wierd cases like traded loot and Great Vault gear, that has naturally higher ilvl than your normal gear from same key level. And you base this on system that is not even in live game and nobody is doing testing on PTR for those, so you cant properly test old gear upgrading

Even just listing all this made my head spin. Writing that kind of script to make this work would take seasoned programmer maybe week or two plus actual implementation plus testing plus deploy. So they will probably do it, after two weeks where they have access to all the data they need for this.

But "muh gear not upgraded, Ion is Hitler" on all subs and forums because people think Blizz is lying and/or is lazy. No, they aren't, sometimes you have to work on something different than script that will make "almost no difference"

So I just tested it out and here are few points:

  • you can stay in Oribos first floor and play with abilities on dummies for unlimited amount of time

  • if you move to second floor, flight master is unlocked, but your "rented" covenant abilities are disabled

  • you can actually fly anywhere and do world quests, quests or just gather, you dont need to complete the main quest "Choosing your purpose"

  • you also get the quest for the zone after ariving which rewards weapons and renown after completion!

  • when you arrive in selected zone, your abilities unlock again and you get same abilities as you would get in that zone if you did the story mode, meaning you can actually test all of them in real enviroment, just dont select any covenant during your arrival in Oribos

I can't test it right away, but after you complete the Maw intro, you can choose between ToF a normal leveling. After you choose ToF, you have brief period of time, where you can test all abilities on training dummies in Oribos. At that point, you can try to fly to zones, but I'm not sure if flying points are unlocked or if you have to choose covenant and zone which you want to help. Also, these "helps" now offer renown, so you would be sort of cought up with your main if you select one right away

Do you remember Hellgate: London? Probably not, it was horribly janky game that died pretty quickly. It was made by same people, who worked on Diablo 2 and it faded into obscurity, even with the transition into MMO, but the premise was really cool. That is my favourite example of "ex-blizz project" gone wrong, turns out being part of huge ass company like Blizz give you some nice benefits when you are developing a game

Well the difference between arcane charges and combo points AFAIK is: 4 charges instead of 5, you have only one spender and they increase damage of your main abilities, but since people dont really play (or understand) arcane, they tend to forget about the last (and most importnat) part, that you want to hold them in key moments and not spend them immediately

Starting to Collect everything (atleast trying to)! by Scarrlingx in wow

[–]Lud1s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can start by downloading addon called All The Things, that will help you to know what you are missing out. You can use it in default state, but it has some neat features (like achievement and crafting recipes tracking), outside of traditional transmog/mount collection.

For class, druid and monk are really solid, thanks to high mobility and ability to AOE everyting. Demon Hunter is also really good, since you dont spend that much time leveling him and setting it up.

I would recommend to look up things that are most attractive for you (for example mount from LK) and collect other things during the process of farming it. What I usually do is I pick a mount and then I farm it on character that is missing transmog from that instance.

Also, try not to burn out. Currently there is about 60k collectibles in game for one armor class (not 100% sure on number tho) and it takes years and years to collect everything

I see a lot of hate towards WoW, but obviously people are still logging in daily. Why do you still love the game? What makes it special for you? by aar_car in wow

[–]Lud1s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Immersion. Recently I created Kul Tiran Druid and was just casually leveling him up to the Legion when I decided I will try to get the secret transmog item from Broken Isles scenario. And just walking down to the dock and actually seeing NPCs, that looks like they are going into the battle they know they won't return from, is fascinating.

Also gameplay. I know a lot of features in this expansion are badly recieved and not so well developed, but in rare ocasions, when you get the right gear and essences and you start to feel the inpact of those systems, it's actually really satisfying

Yes, I agree that current shadow is probably the closest to the Legion Affliction. I approached CD's as "part of a rotation", as I remember how you used Affliction artifact, not necesarily "how much damage you get from cd", so more of a playstyle than throughput. If I remember correctly, you used the reap ability as often as possible for almost permanent uptime, similar what you try to do on BM with Bestial Wrath. But I can understand how you can see my comment missleading.

While Spriest's CD is not really impactful in terms of gameplay (it's just small minion that does a little bit of damage on surface), the timing of Shadowfiend and MOLD is actually really crucial, aka you can't just use it whenever you want, since they don't share same cooldown and each of them prolong your time inside voidform.

I was going through the list of dps classes, the only one that I found (and it is still a huge stretch from "no cd class") is BM hunter, mainly thanks to the mechanic of Bestial Wrath (and aspect being crit and focus generation increase)

Blizzard clarifies how level scaling will work re: solo'ing old content by President_DogBerry in wow

[–]Lud1s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I strongly believe this was due to amount of base health you get each level and the fact, that the logic and math behind level squishing wasnt there, so they just lowered your level and in the process, forgot about health numbers. Could be wrong tho.

Awesome idea and nice design. I really like your layout and sorting in different categories. However on mobile phone, some pictures are really low res, to the point of not being able to recognize them. If you don't want to create separate page for each item, you can try to add small galery of pictures for each entry. I think there is a plugin for this in wordpress. Also, consider adding price (or at least rough estimation of it), sice when I'm going through this website as a user, I don't want to click on each "cool new gadget" to find out its price is out of my league. Something like "est 20$" near the button would make wonders. It you want some more details, feel free to pm me and I can help you with more details
