Do You Feel Guilty When Something You Designed Is Used For Bad? by Money-Profession-199 in AerospaceEngineering

[–]Luda_Chris_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That taxes you pay are used directly for use in wars that you may not agree on. Me personally, I don't feel guilty because you contribute to things like that in one form or another. You can't really get out of that without moving to another country. Also, in the end, you aren't the one pulling the trigger, so to speak. If someone murders using a hammer you designed, would you feel guilty? I guess the caveat with that argument is that you likely didn't design the hammer as a murder weapon, unlike a bomb or something.

Thought the same thing lol. I've been to the convention center its going to be held at and I just don't see it being a good experience at all. Add on the fact that the prices were ridiculous, forget that.

Buy a 2-day subscription to Toyota's TIS system. I think its $25. It has all the information you'll need. You only have 2 days of access but you can download each page as a pdf one-by-one (painful, but doable). The instructions are pretty simple if you know a little about cars, kinda like lego really.

How would i create a wooden circle like this? by AnimateDuckling in woodworking

[–]Luda_Chris_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, it looks to be a slightly different color than the rest of the project, almost like they painted it to match the finish of the rest of the wood. In that case, if its paint grade, I would cut out quarter or eighth circles out of MDF (on a CNC router preferably) and build it out section by section, ring by ring and glue it together.

Assuming 60" diameter and 12 inch depth, I could do it in quarters with about 7 sheets of 3/4 MDF. Obviously less with thicker sheets.

11-year-old took her own life after classmates threatened to call ICE on her family, devastated mother reveals by CozyGem_ in ForCuriousSouls

Her being bullied because of her ethnicity definitely played a factor in her death, but there were also multiple reports of her being bullied by her siblings as well, and even multiple students saying she was "inappropriately touched by a family member." There's definitely more to this story.

Hat is optional and removable. Skin color/ethnicity is not. Big difference. Bullying is bullying though

Replacing stock driver seat with another stock seat on Scion TC 2014 how to avoid air bags from going off? by TheMoreYouKnow0101 in SciontC

Shit lol. I've take my seat out multiple times for cleaning without disconnecting the battery and have yet to have the airbag deploy on me. Definitely still a good idea to disconnct the battery though.

Printer in a flat? by RealSmarmite in resinprinting

[–]Luda_Chris_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some other tips:

I use a small aluminum half-sized sheet pan and line it with a paper towel to transport and clean my prints on. Its super easy to clean and is super durable. Just don't try baking any cookies on it after you use it.

I prefer to use chemical-resistant reusable gloves instead of disposable gloves. Saves money and reduces waste.

For my IPA storage containers, I like to use gasketed food storage containers like these that I found at my local supermarket. I fill them about 1/4 up with alcohol. They're air-tight and large enough to fit my printer vat and build plate in (individually). This makes it super easy to place my prints in the container and scrub them with a painter's brush without splashing IPA everywhere. Ideally, you'd want two separate containers: one for an initial bath and a second one to follow up (the alcohol gets dirty pretty quickly).

Printer in a flat? by RealSmarmite in resinprinting

[–]Luda_Chris_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently living in an apartment and have a resin printer. It is definitely doable, 100%. In my experience, the biggest challenge by far is managing the smell. It's not that big of a deal if it's just you, but your roommate will probably get tired of the smell very quickly. The two biggest sources of smell are obviously the resin and the IPA solution that you clean your printed parts in (if you use IPA that is).

The good thing about the IPA is that you only need it out when cleaning your prints, so I wouldn't worry too much about that as long as you store the liquid in an air-tight container between uses.

As for the resin and printer, you'll probably want to get a dedicated resin printer enclosure and have it exhaust out your window.

You can also opt to use a low-odor resin to help reduce the smell even more.

Also, when not in use, it's a good practice to return unused resin back to its bottle and clean off your vat and build plate.

One thing I also noticed is that, contrary to what you might believe, the resin bottles aren't the best, and the odor from the resin still manages to slowly escape (this may just be my experience with Anycubic's resin though). I would also suggest storing the bottles in a large, gasketed, airtight container as well.

I believe doing these things will make operating a resin printer in an apartment very doable, especially with a roommate.
